Vehicle Detail
For your consideration today is a 3 Wheeled Car or Reverse Trike...It is based on a 1989 Honda PC800 motorcycle...The bike has less than 9000 miles on it ...Shaft drive and liquid cooled V-TWIN...(with straight pipes it sounds like a Harley)...The front end is a VW King Pin axle assembly (year unknown) with drum brakes...The frame is based on a new highly modified shortened Barrien short back dune buggy cage......The seats are leather Chevy S-10 units...All welding was professionally done...The body is a modified old set of Barrien fiberglass skins (in poor/fair shape)...It has a new safety glass windshield...The clutch is on the shift lever and it shifts by pushing the lever forward and back...The reverse is electric with a 90 degree gearmotor connected to a linear actuator..It works but it is slow and it needs a different drive wheel to grip better and increase speed....All of the wiring is done and it is drivable as is...turn signals work and there is a horn...The rear lights are LEDs and are temporarily mounted......all of the switches and buttons are the original pieces...The Speedometer does not work...I have some ideas and a gearbox for it or you can use a stock VW unit...The brake pedal assembly and master cylinders are new Wilwood hydraulic units that have adjustable front to back brake adjustments...There is a Wilwood slave cylinder on the back Honda brake and the fronts are stock VW hydraulic units....The car is built for large drivers...I am 6’3 300 pounds and I am comfortable in it....It has a clear Michigan Title for the bike...It can be registered as a motorcycle....it is street legal as is...It has seat belts installed...new rear tire...new front wheels...All it really needs is a body built for it or run it as a street buggy...Keep in mind this is a project and has only been driven 10 or 20 miles in it’s completed state....It comes with a tow bar and a cheap Harbor freight set of trailer lights to get it home (thats the ones taped on the top of the roll cage in the pics)...It tows very nicely...call me if you have questions 248-521-4444...it is for sale locally...The reserve is very reasonable...There is a YouTube video that was taken today and the pics were also taken today...It is being sold AS-IS...It starts and runs great and is fast...It needs a few small items to complete...(license plate bracket, remount the choke cable, ect)....Includes a service manual for the bike......Doe http://www.youtube.com/user/bum3248#p/u/0/6y5RW1nHlaU On Nov-18-10 at 18:20:02 PST, seller added the following information: A few of you have asked the same questions so I will condense them here...The original bike is intact...NONE of the bike frame was cut except the little bit over the rear tire (see pics)..When I got it it was missing all of the bodywork....the PC800 is not a good looking naked bike so we decided to go this route...the whole package is approx 1000# estimated...it is very nimble and I suspect it would be very close to the same performance as a PC with 2 people on it.......No modifications were made to the mechanics of the bike...the bike is as reliable as a 1998 Honda PC800 is. (very)...it starts right up and purrs like a kitten...in reality it is a bone stock PC800 with 2 front tires......the radiator is right where it used to be....it does not overheat the radiator is intact and it has the original fan ( I had it in a 4th of July parade and all was well)...ALL of the original gauge cluster works...Except the Speedo...the neutral safety switch and all of the idiot lights work...the original switches were relocated to a custom made dash panel and the wires were just extended...it is road ready except it does not have plates on it...it can be registered as a motorcycle in Mich....It would not be legal in Mich as a car because it does not have windshield wipers and squirters(it does have a safety glass windshield rubber mounted)...that would be easy enough to do though,,, The fiberglass hood and sides are rough..we just stuck them on there to knock the wind down....Doe
