Vehicle Detail

UPDATE - I have decided to install the new shift shaft seal (clutch pushrod seal) on the TL before the winning bidder receives the motorcycle. This will prevent the buyer from having to deal with it. It is a minor repair (less than .75 hour according to Suzuki dealer estimate), but I want the winner to get the motorcycle in the best state possible. I realize also that not everyone has the tools or knowledge to do this sort of thing themself, and I know that taking the motorcycle to a shop can be an expensive hassle. RELISTED DUE TO NON PAYING BIDDER. ARGH!! As a side note - I updated the year of this motorcycle for the relist to be 2000. An astute ebay member pointed out in my first listing that the motorcycle wasn't a 1999 because it was manufactured in 11/99 as can be seen in the picture of the VIN plate. 11/99 is considered to be a 2000 model year. I verified this on the title that it is listed as a year 2000 model. Up for sale is my mint condition 2000 Suzuki TL1000R. This is an amazing motorcycle, and has a cult like following. Unique in appearance, a growling monster in performance. I am the second owner of this motorcycle, and both myself and the previous owner have taken meticulous care of it. Eveything about this motorcycle is a head turner from the looks to the sound. Always kept in a heated garage. This TL has seen rain only a handful of times (always by accident) and has always been put away before the first round of road salt and not brought back out until the roads were washed clean by several heavy rains. Wheelies, stunts, etc - not with this TL. This TL was owned/ridden exclusively by two Illinois State motorcycle safety instructors who take riding and motorcycle care seriously. You will truly be hard pressed to find another TL in this good of shape and as well maintained. Here is a list of what you are getting in this auction and what the motorcycle has: Brand new tires - driven home 20 miles from shop after install and parked - hasn't been driven sense (check out the knobbys still on them in the pics) K&N air filter Full Yoshimura RS-3 2.5 inch race exhaust system Fuel Injection remap using Yosh box +10,+10,+10 and dyno tuned Racetech front suspension (gold valving) Braided stainless steel (with rubber coating) Goodridge brake lines front and rear Vortex front and rear sprokets geared for more torque (less than 1,000 miles on these) RK O-Ring 520 chain conversion (less than 1,000 miles on chain) Dual 6000K white HID headlights (amazing night visibility) Full LED turn signals (front, flush to faring / rear, integrated in fender eliminator kit) Zero Gravity smoke double bubble wind screen Body color matched hand grips Custom TL engraved machined aluminum license plate relocator bracket Second Look body color matched tank protector Wolo Bad Boy air horn mounted completely out of sight (this thing is amazing) All new waterproof 3M electrical connectors (replaced defective factory connectors) cooling fan switch kit (allows you to manually turn the fan on to cool the engine) outboard connection for battery charging and connecting jumper cables (jumper cables provided) Craftsman trickle charger (uses connection mentioned above and seen in pictures rear seat and dome (dome for when rear seat isn't installed) New fork seals and fluid in 2010 Printed Suzuki service and parts manuals Motorcycle cover Jackets - two of them, one is size 40, the other is 42. Both have zip out liners for different riding climates. Pants: one pair of pants, full leather except for crotch (for flexibility), the knee sliders are removeable - velcro on. These pants zip fully into either of the jacekts so it turns into a suit. In addition to the knee sliders, there are foam knee cups built into the pants for protection. The pants are size 30. I wear 32 pants and they fit me fine. These have been worn less than five times. Boots: Technic race boots, all leather except where the Kevlar is and a few flex points. These have slider pads on the outside where your toes would rub if you leaned hard. Size 46 on the label, I wear anywhere from a 9 1/2 to 10 1/2 shoe depending on if it is a sneaker or work boot, etc. These have been worn less than ten times. Gloves: Technic size medium. One is missing the velcro strap that cinches the wrist down, but it doesn't really matter since there is another larger velcro closure on the guantlet part. These have Kevlar knuckle protection and finger joint/tip pads. These have some wear, but I wore them every time I rode so it is to be expected. No rips, tears, etc. Helmet: It's there, personally, I don't wear other peoples helmets but that would be up to the buyer. It has seen wear, but it matches the rest of the stuff, etc. Odometer says 21,030 but I know there isn't anywhere near that. This bike has had altered gearing from the day it was brought home by the first owner and the spedo is right around 15mph off. I am not sure how to do the math on this one, but I am guessing actual mileage is under 15,000. I installed an outboard electrical connection straight to the battery - this allows for you to jump other motorcycles, jump the TL (if battery ever died), and connect the maintenance charger. I am throwing in a Craftsman maintenance charger. I also have a little tool kit and flash light I'll throw in - these store under the passenger seat. The fender eliminator kit is full LED and water tight. The electrical connectors on the motorcycle have been replaced with 3M water seal connectors. I cut the old connectors out, crimped new pins on and then soldered to ensure a good connection. The TL's were known for electrical problems that would interrupt the fuel injection causing the motorcycycle to stall because of coroded pins in the wiring harness connectors. I replaced all the connectors around two years ago and have never had any problems since. The fact that I washed the bike a lot probably contributed to the connectors corroding, but in my opinion they should use water tight connections from the factory... Video I feel video is a must nowadays when selling a vehicle online. These aren 't long clips, but they should get the points across: Video 1 - startup http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx9yo0yHfzQ Video 2 - HID headlights in action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scRncyVNao0 Video 3 - Exhaust sound, VROOM VROOM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRID8I2HzDU The Flaws .....a few years ago I was leaving my at the time fiances condo on an October morning. There was frost on the ground that I didn't see. I turned out of her parking lot probably 5 mph and the front wheel slid out and I fell over. The only thing it did was crack the faring (I just replaced the faring with a brand new one) and the scuff on the pipe/muffler. The scuff on the pipe is noticeable but the one on the muffler isn't - see pics. I honestly didn't want to spend the money for a new Yosh exhaust. It is around $700 for the full system for the bike - you could probably get a can and pipe for less than 1/2 that if you wanted to fix it. In the pic with the charger, etc. there is a small suzuki bag - this contains a brand new shift shaft seal. The TL's were known for the shift shaft seal to go bad and mine needs to be changed because it is leaking oil around the seal. It is an easy job, I just hadn't gotten around to it. This is the first time it needed to be changed, and the bike is eleven years old so they do last a while. Shipping, etc: The TL is now parked in my heated garage with the cover on it - this is where and how it will stay until it is sent to or picked up by the seller. If you would be needing to have the TL shipped to you, may I recommend Haulbikes.com http://www.haulbikes.com/ship_motorcycle.html I have personally used this company to bring my 1998 Virago 1100 (which I bought off of ebay) from Idaho to Illinois. I have nothing but good things to say about them. The price was fair, and they were maticulous with the motorcycle in every aspect of the shipping process. I recommend haulbikes.com based on personal experience and have no relationship with them whatsoever beyond that. It is ultimately up to the buyer which shipping service they choose, if necessary. Buyers are also free to pick the motorcycle up from me directly and save on shipping. Payment Complete payment may be via certified bank check from any major US bank sent priority certified mail with signature and delivery confirmation. Once the check has been verified by bank staff and guranteed deposited, the motorcycle and title will be released to the buyer. If the buyer chooses to have the motorcycle shipped to them, the title will be mailed separately in a USPS Priority certified mail envelope which will require the recipients signature proving delivery confirmation. Another payment option is direct bank to bank wire transfer - this will also need to be verified before anything is released. Finally, if the buyer chooses to pick the motorcycle up directly from me, US currency may be presented as payment. Your purchasing safety/confidence and mine are of upmost importance wtih this transaction.
