Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis rat rod. This car gets a ton of attention! It's been reliable, and has basically been my daily driver for the past couple of years. If you live in the Detroit area, you've probably seen me driving around town. It's just time for something new, and the car needs a few maintenance items that I don't feel like doing. Here are details: It has a big block 460 (7.5 liter), a 3 speed C6 transmission, side pipes with thrush turbo mufflers, a Holley 750 CFM Four Barrel Street Avenger Carburetor, a Kenwood CD player with 4 speakers, working power windows, power seats, and a custom flat black paint job with scallops. The black is actually Rustoleum that I thinned and sprayed with a HVLP gun, and the scallops were done with rattle cans of flat colored paint. The black has held up really well, and still looks great! The scallops have faded a little on the hood, but it'd be easy to brighten them up again with a few cans of spray paint. Everywhere I go, people stop and comment on how they love the paint job! The car runs and drives great too! Here's the maintenance I've done in the past couple of years: New front shocks, outer tie rod ends, idler arm, front brake pads / rotors, front wheel bearings, driveshaft u-joints, spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, and a new battery in 2009. The body is pretty solid, with just a little rust starting on a couple of the doors. Here's what still needs to be done: It has a small oil leak at the rear main seal. You'll need to add a quart every couple hundred miles or so. It has a cracked front windshield... It seals but there are a few cracks across it. It needs rear brakes. The car stops fine, but there's extra pedal travel becuase the rear brakes are totally worn and I never got around to working on them. It runs a little rough when it's cold, so the electric choke needs to be adjusted. And you can hear a small exhaust leak where the pipe bolts to the manifold on the drivers side. I noticed one of the studs is broken off, so the exhaust pipe isn't getting a good seal. That's about it... What you see is what you get. This would be a great inexpensive car to cruise around in, or would be perfect for parts if you need a good running 460 with a C6 transmission! I didn't put a lot of money into this car, so I'm starting the bid at $500, and we'll see where it goes... Good Luck!
