Vehicle Detail

1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais, 5.0 litre 307 Olds-built V-8, T-tops. Like new with 20,043 actual miles. You may recall that Oldsmobile was a major sponsor of the PGA Golf Tournament in the mid-1980s. This car was built specifically as a courtesy vehicle for the Las Vegas Pro Celebrity Classic, which was held September 14-18, 1983. (See the RPO sticker). The car was likely driven by one of the golfers or event officials during the week, and/or was shown at the Oldsmobile display for fans to inspect. Following this event, the Cutlass was reclaimed by Oldsmobile and allocated to an Oldsmobile dealership in North Carolina, where is was sold to its first owner. The car stayed in North Carolina until approximately 2005, when it moved to Missouri. It came to Ohio earlier this year. Carfax will verify the car's low mileage and owner history. The Calais was the "sporty" trim level of the Cutlass Supreme in 1984. Standard equipment included a handling suspension with rear sway bar, reclining bucket seats, console with floor shifter, full instrumentation including tachometer, and black headlight buckets. In addition, this one appears to have all of the extra-cost options that were available, with the exception of power antenna, limited-lip differential, and fiber-optic light monitors. There are no excuses necessary with this car. Not only is it a low-mile garage-kept original, but it was was undercoated when new and has no rust, even at the bottoms of the doors where they all seem to rust. Even the original exhaust system is still intact and silver in color. The doors close easy and solid like a Mercedes, with no rattles or sagging. The door windows are tight, not loose and rattly. The engine is so quiet and smooth you can't even tell it is running at a traffic light. The Cutlass is all original except for the following: Tires (new with less than 1,000 miles) Hoses and belts (replaced for safety) Battery Shocks (brand new Bilsteins-better than original) Fluids, filters and PCV valve Every bulb, switch, gauge, and accessory on this car functions like new. The air conditioning is still R-12 and is fully charged and ice cold - it will freeze you out! The power windows are fast (!) and the power locks click with authority. The exterior is a pleasing color combination of cream beige with a contrasting dark brown vinyl top. The vinyl top has a kind of metallic sheen to it - very pretty. It is still soft and supple. The paint is rich and deep. All of the chrome looks like NOS, even the rear bumper. There is not a single door ding on this car. The interior is amazing - rich dark brown with absolutely no fading or wear. The leather wrap on the steering wheel is supple. The seats and carpet look like they have never been touched. Even the plasti-chrome trim around the dash vents and door pull straps is completely intact and like new. The seat belts are clean with no fading or embedded dirt like most. The car has never been smoked in, and still smells like a new 1984 GM car inside! The T-tops do not leak, and the window weatherstripping is still soft and not cracked. The trunk looks like it has never been used. The original T-top bags are present. The engine compartment is amazing - see the pictures. The car will come to the winning bidder with two radios - the original AM/FM stereo, which looks and works like new; and a period-correct Delco AM/FM/cassette that has been retrofitted with an AUX-IN jack so you can play your MP3 player through the car's stereo (this radio is currently installed). At shows, no one realizes this is not the original radio. The only downside to the MP3 radio is that it has a loose connection inside it somewhere, and as a result will sometimes cut in and out when you go over a bump (maybe 10% of the time). The problem is internal to the radio, not the car itself. This car regularly wins trophies when I show it at local shows. With some additional detailing it could be ready for the Olds Nationals. It is also reliable enough to be used as a daily driver, although I honestly think it's too nice for that fate. This is a very unique, hard-to-find model, fully equipped, and is probably the best low-mile Cutlass Calais currently available. If you are very particular and want the best, like I do, then this car is for you. I do not really need to sell this car, and therefore I will not be giving it away. If it doesn't meet my reserve, I will keep it and enjoy it. So please don't send me any lowball offers. Good Luck Bidding! AUCTION TERMS: NO OVERSEAS BIDDERS!!! U.S. and Canada only! NO ZERO FEEDBACK BIDDERS without contacting me first!!! I require a $500 PayPal deposit within two days (48 hours) of the auction close. The balance is due by CASH or CASHIER'S CHECK DRAWN ON A U.S. BANK ONLY - NO EXCEPTIONS. The transaction must be completed and the car picked up within 14 days. I need to have the money or check in hand to release the car. If you do not have the financing to buy this car, then don't place a bid. This is a real auction and you are bidding to own, not to mull it over and decide whether or not you want it, so make sure you check with your wife, husband, significant other, kids, parents, priest, and/or parole officer before placing your bids. Arranging and paying for shipping, licensing, taxes, etc. are the buyer's responsibility. I cannot transport the car myself, but I will cooperate with your designated shipper to the best of my ability. If you would like to fly in and drive the Cutlass home, I can pick you up at the nearby Akron/Canton (CAK) or Cleveland Hopkins (CLE) airport - we can discuss if necessary. You are welcome to come and inspect the car before bidding or have your representative do so at your expense. I have described this car to the best of my ability. Remember that this is a 1984 model year vehicle, and while it's in excellent shape, it is 26 years old, is sold as-is, and does not come with a warranty of any kind.
