Vehicle Detail
This 2003 Mercury Marauder has just over 35,000 miles, has always been kept in a temperature controlled garage, and runs as well as the day it was new. I purchased the car several years ago from the original owner (who is also a child of the muscle car era), because I knew its history and how it had been cared for. We both found the car appealing because of its power and excellent handling characteristics, its good looks, and its long list of standard options (MSRP was over $36,000.) The car is a pleasure to drive whether it's to the local grocery store or on longer road trips. It has never been hot-rodded or abused in any way. With the exception of a new battery and new tires this Mercury is absolutely stock. The original paint is deep and lustrous (waxed often), but does have a few nicks, light scratches, and minor dings--nothing that shows well in a photo. There is also a small curb scrape on the left front wheel (see photo.) The interior is like new and, with a little imagination, still has a hint of the new car smell. The oil has been changed religiously (Motocraft synthetic blend), and all scheduled service is up-to-date. The car come complete with the original window sticker, marketing brochures, and a promotional DVD. There were only 11,000 of these cars manufactured in 2003 and 2004, and perhaps 7,000-8,000 remain on the road. Good examples, like this one, will increase in value over time. Marauders came from the factory with B.F. Goodrich G-Force T/As in sizes 235/50 ZR 18 (front) and 245/50 Zr 18 (rear). When it came time to replace them, the rear tire size was back-ordered for an indeterminate time and unavailable. The front tires were purchased in hopes that the rear tires would be available in short order. When it became apparent that they wouldn't, I purchased a full set of Goodyear Eagles: 235/50 ZR 18 for the front and 255/55 ZR 18 for the rear. The tires look great, perform well, and may be an improvement to the original. Bottom line is that a total of six new tires come with the car. If you have ever considered purchasing a Marauder, give this one a close look...no disappointments.
