This DeLorean is an original 15,542 mile car. The previous owner purchased it in 1984. I purchased it in the Spring of this year. The previous owner, who now lives in Winter Park Colorado, told me he moved to Hawaii where he lived for several years. He said that it was the only DeLorean in Hawaii at the time. Then he moved to the California desert, eventually moving to Colorado. While in the California high desert, the car was left outside under a tarp. The tarp blew off the car, and went unnoticed for about 2-3 weeks. Hence, the poor condition of the interior. I purchased it because of the very low miles, standard transmission with A/C, and the great condition of the exterior. Mechanically it seemed very sound, and had not been abused. It is totally original as the many pictures demonstrate. It was my intention to restore the car, but due to a recent adverse medical diagnosis, I will be unable to do it. Therefore, I am putting it up for sale. The interior will require new dash, "A" pillar covers, seat covers, and a portion of the door panels. The console, "headliner", and carpet are in acceptable condition, and should be cleaned have “protectant” applied. I had budgeted about $2,000 for the interior work. The exterior will require minor cosmetics as can be seen by the photos. I had budgeted $750 to $1,000 for the minor exterior paint work. It will not require any body work. The stainless all around is in very good condition, and the seams between the body panels show that there has never been any body damage. There is a small blemish (about 3/8 inch) on the hood (see picture). The frame and undercarriage are in very good condition. There is NO RUST on the car as the pictures detail. The struts on the engine "lid" will need to be replaced. Mechanically, the car is in very good condition. I had the clutch assembly (clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, clutch line from master to slave, and rear main seal replaced with the upgraded design. I also had the gas tank drained, and cleaned, new fuel lines, a new fuel pump installed, and replaced the battery/battery assembly. The engine was cleaned, cleaned and reset plugs, distributor cap and rotor. The transmission, clutch, engine are all in very good condition. The mechanic who worked on it verified that mechanically, it is in very good condition. The tires have almost new tread thickness all around. The steering is tight and responsive, as would be expected on a car with only 15K miles. All gauges work as does the heater/A/C and radio. The lights all work as does the safety lights on the doors. The A/C should be charged. The "Graffiti" on the inside of the driver's door are actual markings from the factory in Ireland. The originality of this car is remarkable, as can be seen by the photos.
