Vehicle Detail
Being auctioned is this 1964 MGB Mark 1 that is in nice, ready to restore condition. The car was built in 1964 and then licensed 1965 when it arrived in the U.S. I bought it a year ago from the second owner with plans of someday doing a complete restoration but am no longer able to. It had been stored away in a barn since the 1980's because the owner wasn't able to get it started. After I got it home, I discovered a large mouse nest in the exhaust so removing that took care of the starting problem! The body is in pretty straight condition having the original Iris Blue paint job. There was a dent in the driver side door that was repaired in prep for painting. The trunk and floor pans are both solid. There is some rust in the typical areas around the wheel wells and lower panel that you can see in the photos. The door sills appear to be solid. This is a pull handle car with steel dash and aluminum hood. It has the original MGB hardtop that is in good condition. I have the stow-away convertible top frame and the original seat frames. It currently has fully adjustable seats from a newer MGB. It still has the original blue interior side panels. The glass is all good and the tires are still like new. Transmission works smooth, brakes are very good and it runs and drives great. I have done some upgrades to make it a reliable and dependable driver. Some of those modifications include; *New Weber Carburetor conversion *New pointless distributor *New alternator conversion *New gel cell batteries *Negative ground conversion *New electronic fuel pump I have kept all the original parts from any modifications done so it can easily be taken back to original.
