Vehicle Detail

VW Westfalia Camper Van! In Great Shape. I don't want to sell this but I have to.  I just finished an extend trip around the country in this van and it has worked great. This is the full Westfalia camper version with the stove, faucet, fridge, and pop top.  Every camper accessory works and I have the table and the stand.  I have (and used) all the curtains and when they are all up nobody can see inside the van.  I even have the mosquito netting so you can sleep with the rear hatch open.  I have comfortably slept four people in the van for several nights.     First the bad.  The front windows don't work and will need some replacement parts.  If you don't want to replace them, that's fine, they are stuck in the "up" position.  There are two small triangle windows that flip open and provide great ventilation.  Secondly, the power side view mirrors don't work and the drivers side view mirror is a "road side repair" (check the picture).  It works just the same as a standard side view and doesn't cost 125.00 I have taken out the stereo but I will include it for 50.00 more if you want it.  I have decided to leave the alpine amp and the sub woofer (the box is built for its spot under the bench seat). This van is equipped with air conditioning but I have not figured out how to make it work.  The person who sold it to me said it worked but I should have tested it myself.  It may be a simple switch somewhere on the van or something that needs servicing.  The fan still blows air in the van (so the heat works great) but you want to leave the fan on the max setting you have to push the switch in.  When you keep in mind that this van is 23 years old it is in fantastically good shape.  The front and rear seats seem like they are no more than five years old, the stove, fridge and almost all the interior trim are in great shape, which leads me to the good…. When I bought this van I traveled all the way to Florida (from Connecticut) to get it.  It has a clear title and passed Connecticut inspection.  The chassis of this van is rust free and in great shape.  All of the other vanagons that I looked at in the northeast had significant rust problems.   I replaced many of the the common things to go wrong in a vanagon ahead of time so nothing catastrophic would happen on my trip.  This van will do many more miles where ever you decide to take it.  Mechanically the van is in great shape.  It has 62610 miles and was perfectly dependable over my road trip this summer.  At the beginning of the summer I replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor and distributor cap, headlights, windshield wipers, and installed and extra deep cycle battery to power the interior accessories.  The second battery charges when the car is on but there is a relay that prevents draining the battery responsible for starting the car.  I also replaced some of the fuel lines that looked to old or worn.  Two months ago I had the water pump replaced, the coolant flshed, put in all new v-belts, and had the rear brakes serviced.  Furthermore, many of the coolant hoses that were old and rubber have been replaced by metal or plastic lines that will last far longer.  Both of the rear wheel bearings were recently replaced and two of the four CV joints were inspected and greased with new CV boots installed.   The tires have plenty of tread life left and are the right size recommended by VW.  I will sell all the spare parts that I have with the van.  These include a fuel filter, and plenty of fuel hose.  I also have a jug of the proper audi/VW coolant that will come with the van. The bike rack comes with the van.  When I bought this van I paid for an hour of time with a VW mechanic to check for problems and things I might not catch myself so I would be glad to work with the buyer on setting up a similar appointment with a vw mechanic of their choice in my area (Quincy MA).  If you end up winning the auction I will credit the cost of the mechanic time to the purchase price of the van.    I will ship the van at the buyers expense with the buyer choosing the shipping service.  The shipping must be insured and I assume no liability when the van leaves my house.  I would also be glad to facilitate local pickup and pick anyone up at Boston Logan airport.  1000 deposit within 48 hours after the auction end via paypal or certified check and the full payment within two weeks of auction end date. You can check out this gallery for a lot more pictures, VW Gallery, I would also be glad to email something specific.
