1955 Mercury Two Door Sedan Up for auction is a 1955 Mercury two door sedan that has been in my family since 1957. The tag and registration are current and in my name. It has never been wrecked. This car has never had any paint and body work. Body is in original faded light blue color. This car has been in a dry storage area since 1973. This car is still a 6 volt system. 1955 was last year Ford Motor Company built cars with 6 volt system. All stainless trim pieces are complete, some pieces have dents. Front fenders and doors are solid with no damage other than some dents and scratches. Right and left quarters, rocker panels below doors and wheel wells are very solid with some surface rust. Lower rear quarters between rear wheel and rear bumper have some areas rusted out. The drip rails on top around windows are solid with small amount of surface rust. Trunk floor is solid. Floor pans inside the car have areas rusted out and will need to be patched or replaced. The original 292 engine has been completely rebuilt and is in excellent running condition. Transmission is standard with overdrive in excellent working condition. The original rear end is in excellent working condition. I installed new seat covers over the old upholstery. The seat frames and springs are all in good condition. This car needs a total body restoration. However, it is very rare to find a car that is complete; in original condition and with the original engine as nice as this car.
