Vehicle Detail
Hi, up for auction is a early production 1955 Nash Metropolitan Series II this is not a Series III making this a rare 1955 model. The Series II Metro's started with vin# E-11001 on August 19, 1954 while the series III 1955's started with vin #E-21008 on November 28th 1955. Just a bit of info to start with. This Metropolitan you see before you has been in California it's entire life and still has the California black plate on the front bumper!! Chassis number on the car is E-14446, the body # is 144469, Model # 542, Trim is T1 and the paint is color code 904 (Canyon Red) and 907 (Mist Grey) tu-tone. The car is solid with a sound body and frame/chassis. The body is straight with only a few minor imperfections here and there. The motor ran about a year ago, with the help of starting fluid, so, the motor runs and is not frozen, but will need a tune-up, the carb has been rebuilt as well. The interior is all original 1955 including seat/upolstrey, and door panels. The floorboards are solid as seen in the pictures. The Metro is in primer. The previous owner grafted in a rear trunk lid from a later model year Metropolitan, they did a outstanding job, all the hardwork has been done, it functions very well, it just needs a little blending, when I bought the car it took me a while to figure out this was done. As you may know early Metro's did not have outside access to the trunk area, you had to access it from behind the rear seat, this became problematic for the Metro owners so Nash started producing the cars with rear access trunk lids. With the final blending this will look factory. I do not have the hood or the grill, these are easily found here on ebay or contact the Metropolitan Pit Stop, if they don't have it, they can get it. The car is really in solid condition and with original interior this will make a great restoration as this Metro has great bones. Please ask any and all questions you may have and I will be more than happy to answer them. The car is located here in the San Francisco bay area and I would be happy to show you the Nash in person. Feel free to call me direct at: (650) 400-8836 or email me. Thanks for looking, good luck on the auction and as always...Happy Bidding!!!
