NO OVERSEAS BIDDERS!!! U.S. and Canada only!!! NO ZERO FEEDBACK BIDDERS without contacting me first!!! NO RESERVE!!! Here is your chance to own one of the rarest and most desirable of the third generation Camaros, a 1992 Camaro Z28 with RPO “1LE” performance equipment. This car has just 9,082 original miles and is in like-new condition. The Z28 version of the 1LE performance package was intended to make the Camaro competitive in SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) road racing events. A combination of the top performance hardware available, combined with weight savings of a minimal option load (no air conditioning!), made this the lightest and best-handling of all third-generation Z28s. There were 705 Camaros built in 1992 with the 1LE brakes. Of these, 589 were B4C (Special Service Package) cars built on the RS trim level and intended for law enforcement use. Of the 705 big-brake cars, only 116 were built as Z28s - they don't come up for sale every day - and this is one of the best ones remaining. The 1LE package on the Z28 came with the following equipment: Choice of 5.7-liter TPI engine with automatic transmission (245 hp) or 5.0-liter TPI engine with manual transmission (230 hp). This particular car has the 5.0/manual (305), which was the favored choice for SCCA track competition. Dual-converter performance exhaust 4-wheel power disc brakes with special 12” front rotors and PBR dual-piston aluminum calipers adapted from the Corvette Baffled fuel tank to prevent fuel starvation when cornering 245/50ZR16 Goodyear Eagle tires 145-mph speedometer Polyurethane bushings Special spring rates and shock/strut combination Engine oil cooler Aluminum driveshaft and spare wheel Performance rear axle ratio (3.42) Fog lamps deleted for weight savings and better airflow through the radiator Air conditioning deleted (only the Z28 1LE cars were A/C-delete) - improves weight distribution and radiator airflow This Camaro has only two extra-cost convenience options: a retractable rear cargo shade and the deluxe leather interior. The vast majority of 1LEs were ordered with the base level interior, making this an unusual option combination. THIS CAR WAS ORDERED AS A RADIO-DELETE CAR and the delete plate is still in place. It was, however, built with a radio accomodation package including a fixed mast antenna. This car was special-ordered new by a GM employee; his last name actually appears on the factory invoice (which I have). You had to be well-connected to get an order for one of these cars to go through. In fact, most Chevrolet dealers were unaware of the RPO 1LE package as it was not advertised or promoted by GM, but rather was triggered by a certain combination of performance and delete options. The car comes fully documented with the following: Window sticker GM factory invoice Trim build sheet Period magazine articles about the 1LE package I have owned this car for two years and it has never spent a night outside in that time. As you would expect on a 9,000-mile car, the exterior, interior, engine compartment, and floor pans are pretty much like new. There are a few stone chips on the plastic front bumper consistent with 9,000 miles of use, but you have to be looking for them. The only components which are not original to the car, with the exception of fluids and filters, are the battery (AC Delco replacement), the tires (Goodyear Eagle F1 supercar tires in the original size – far better tires than the original Gatorbacks), the serpentine belt, the hood and hatch struts, and the muffler. Everything works properly and this car is tight, solid, and a pleasure to drive. It starts instantly, runs great, and averages about 23 mpg (!) in normal driving. The shifter and clutch are as smooth as butter. It has never been smoked in and still smells like a new car. If you have never experienced a low-mile car F-body car, you are in for a treat. The doors close with just finger-pressure and do not sag. The weatherstripping is soft and like new. The turn signal lever is tight and clicks into place solidly. The dash has no cracks. The carpet doesn't even have any lint on it, let alone dirt. The leather seats, steering wheel and shift knob are supple and glove-soft. The interior is BRIGHT RED with no fading. Although built for racing, this Camaro was ordered as a collector car and has never been tracked. Mostly what I have done with the car is to show it, and it always does well in local shows, usually winning a trophy. I definitely over-maintain it – all the fluids including even the brake fluid are clean and new. The paint is mostly original, except for the passenger side door and some surrounding areas. This was necessary due to a break-in attempt in 2008 while the car was in storage. I had the car fixed properly by the best body shop in town, and it was very expensive but worth every penny. The work was done by experts and you can't tell that any paint work has been done on this car. This is the "accident or damage" that shows up in Autocheck. All of the body panels are still original and THIS CAR HAS NEVER – REPEAT, NEVER – BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. This Camaro is as close to a COPO as you are going to find in the third generation. The future collectability potential of any 1LE is very high due to the rarity and racing provenance of the package. This car’s combination of color, unusual option combination, performance, final year of the third generation Camaro, low miles, and still-new condition make it the cream of the crop. I love this Camaro but I have decided to sell, because I have too many cars and am tired of having to store them all over town (I only have a one-car garage here at the house). This car deserves to go to a serious Camaro collection or to an enthusiast who will continue to keep it stock and maintain it in mint condition as I have. I have a clear title to the car in my name. I will be happy to answer any legitimate questions you have, as I have nothing to hide with this fine car. You are welcome to come inspect the car or have your representative do so at your expense prior to bidding. The best way to contact me is through the Ebay system. Selling at NO RESERVE because I need it gone! The Ebay community will set the value of this rare car! Good Luck Bidding!!! AUCTION TERMS: NO OVERSEAS BIDDERS!!! U.S. and Canada only! NO ZERO FEEDBACK BIDDERS without contacting me first!!! I require a $500 PayPal deposit within two days (48 hours) of the auction close. The balance is due by CASH or CASHIER'S CHECK DRAWN ON A U.S. BANK ONLY - NO EXCEPTIONS. The transaction must be completed and the car picked up within 14 days. I need to have the money or check in hand to release the car. If you do not have the financing to buy this car, then don't place a bid. This is a real auction and you are bidding to own, not to mull it over and decide whether or not you want it, so make sure you check with your wife, husband, significant other, kids, parents, priest, and/or parole officer before placing your bids. Arranging and paying for shipping, licensing, taxes, etc. are the buyer's responsibility. I cannot transport the car myself, but I will cooperate with your designated shipper to the best of my ability. If you would like to fly in and drive the Camaro home, I can pick you up at the nearby Akron/Canton (CAK) or Cleveland Hopkins (CLE) airport - we can discuss if necessary. You are welcome to come and inspect the car before bidding or have your representative do so at your expense. I have described this car to the best of my ability. Remember that this is a 1992 model year vehicle, and while it's in very good shape, it is 18 years old, is sold as-is, and does not come with a warranty of any kind.
