Vehicle Detail
Greetings fellow eBayers and Subaru enthusiasts. My wife and I bought this beautiful 1994 Subaru SVX-LSI from the folks at "All We'll Drive, LLC" in New Jersey - a small company specializing in the Subaru SVX. We were so particular about buying a quality vehicle, particularly an SVX, I didn't mind flying from Utah to NJ to drive it home. I paid $4500 for the car after negotiations. This is the original FS ad: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=47095 My wife and I bought the car approx 145K on the odometer, the car now has 161K. The professional SVX specialists at AWD went through everything, did the highly recommended front end maintenance (Timing belt, valve cover gaskets, front seals, etc) right before I bought it, in addition to an aftermarket transmission fluid cooler and separate filter. My wife has been driving it for nearly 1.5 years as her daily commuter. It runs FLAWLESSLY. No knocks, no ticking, no smoke, starts every time, idles smoothly. Everything works.. all the lights, interior and exterior, the cruise control, the air conditioning blows ICE - cold, all the power windows, the power seats, power mirrors, the sunroof, the rear window defoggers, the stereo, ... even the power antenna works properly. It passed Utah State Inspections 1 month ago.... that includes emissions, safety, and even the electronic brake check... 100% perfect. No check engine lights, no warning lights... nothing. The exterior has picked up a few rock chips over the past 1.5 years on the front bumper and side mirrors - one of them on the bumper is pretty bad (nickel sized), but the paint is still very good quality considering. There are no major scratches... no dents.... no door dings at all... and absolutely no exterior rust whatsoever. All of the glass (including the OEM bronze titanium dioxide coated front windshield) is 100% perfect. No leaks in the automatic carwash, no wind noises at high speeds, No chips, no cracks. The wheels are uncurbed. The tires are all over 70%. All the lenses are uncracked, although the headlights are a little foggy (exterior, not interior - It should polish out) The interior leather is "fair". A small busted seam on the driver bolster... another one on the top of the rear seat. Carpet is a little dirty, but not ripped or torn. Dashboard has zero cracks, excellent shape. The alcantara is a bit dingy on the drivers armrest, but could easily clean up nicely. The rest of the alcantara is very nice. In the 1.5 years that I've owned it.. I've changed a rear wheel speed sensor, the battery, the rear brake pads, and a driver side power window switch. That's it - all of which now are operating 100% perfectly. Title is 100% clear, clean carfax, no leins, and IN-HAND, ready to sign over to new owner. **** The transmission went out this morning. Literally, this morning (Sept 30th) while my wife was driving to work.**** After considerable research, I have come to the conclusion that the problem is the sprague clutch in the transmission. I could be wrong, but the signs are all pointing toward a transmission rebuild. It drives fine for about 10 minutes until it heats up... at which time is slips BADLY, and the only way to get it to move is to put it into D1, and limp back. So.... you can take a 10-minute test drive.... or you can drive it right up onto a trailer. I love this car, and I love Subarus. I own 4 of them - including an 06 WRX with over $18k in modifications, an 07 Tribeca, and a 1978 Brat that I've been restoring for 2 years. I'm also the co-founder and site admin for the fastest growing car club in Utah, www.slcsubaru.com. It kills me to sell it, but I'm also a 16+ year active duty Air Force Sergeant, and my wife and I just received orders to move to Sheppard AFB, TX early next year. We were planning on selling it anyway. 2 drivers and 4 cars makes for a difficult move. The incident happened this morning. The following thread details exactly what happened, and the events leading up to my decision to sell it. My wife and I bought this car with the intention of driving it into the ground, and then "junking" it. I had hoped for more than 1.5 years, but these things happen. With the time crunch, and the impending move, we decided it's best to just cut our losses, and "walk away". Someone's going to get a really nice car for very little $$ and a little work.http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?p=659172&posted=1#post659172 I could put a used $500 transmission in it... but quite frankly, I don't have the time.... or truthfully, the desire. Plus, we could really use the money for the move. $1000 starting bid seems high by comparison, but generally "inop" SVXs for sale aren't 1/10th as nice as this one is. Generally, the condition of the car is much like the condition of the transmission - broken. I assure you, this is not the case. I have seen quite a few SVXs. I flew all the way to New Jersey to buy this one. You would be hard pressed to find another one in this condition. Someone has a transmission to put in this thing, and the time/desire to do it... and is going to end up with an exceptional vehicle. I have owned over 30 cars in my day (I'm only 34 years old)... and at least 6 of them I have traveled cross-country for. I love road trips in rented Chevy Suburbans with U-Haul trailers, but I know it isn't for everybody. So with that, I will try to make it as easy as possible for those potential long-distance buyers. * I will happily entertain any Pre-Purchase Inspections by the inspector of your choice. * I will happily allow you to come view the car, anytime during the auction. * I will happily store the car in my climate-controlled garage at no extra charge, so long as full payment is made. I know many folks may not be able to take the time off until X-mas/New Years break, so I will keep it for you until then if you like. I'll even start it a couple times per week to keep things lubricated. I suppose I can even drive it around the block a couple times if you like. * I will happily meet the shipper of your choice, and assist with getting the car on the trailer (Yes, it will drive on the trailer - they will ask you that when you call for quotes) If they give you a hard time about entering an Air Force base, I will drive the car off the base and meet them (not FAR off the base though) * I will happily, truthfully, and promptly answer all questions to the best of my ability. I live on Hill AFB, Utah - about 30 minutes North of Salt Lake City, UT. (84056). I'll even give you a complimentary tour of Hill AFB if you like ;) Hopefully this clarifies everything. I have tried to represent this vehicle to the best of my ability. Please ask all questions BEFORE bidding. A $500 deposit is required via Paypal within 3 days of the end of the auction. The remaining funds must be paid by certified bank check within 10 days of auction closure. Please, No personal checks. All zero bidders MUST contact me prior to bidding. Your bid will be immediately removed if you fail to do so. Once again - $1000 starting bid.... No reserve. Happy bidding... best wishes... and happy motoring! --Matt (ninefourteener) EDIT: I just took these two videos today (Oct 1st). Please take the time to view them (each is 6-8 minutes). It should give you a MUCH better picture of the car.
