Up for sale is a muscle car icon. The 2011 Shelby GT500 features an all-new 5.4L aluminum engine which is 102 pounds lighter than the previous cast-iron engine and uses Ford-patented plasma-coating technology. The intercooled 5.4L four valve DOHC forged-steel crank and connecting rod V8 with the supercharged 9.0 PSI of boost pushes 550 HP @ 6,000 RPM and 510 lbs-ft TQ @4,500 RPM, 6 speed man trans followed by a 3.73 gear ratio, that put up 4.4 0-60 and 12.4 1/4 mile @116 MPH. The car is also the first modern day Shelby GT500 that won't require buyers to pay a gas guzzler tax. Ford’s new patented plasma-coating technology which the company describes as, "A process that applies a 150-micron composite coating, that contains nanoparticles, on the internal surfaces of engine cylinder bores, replacing cast-iron liners typically used in aluminum engine blocks." Other new features include Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS), a new optional SVT Performance Package, enhanced rigidity, and a lowered ride height designed to improve driving dynamics and handling. In addition, the new engine achieves 80 percent of its torque between 1,750 and 6,250 rpm, giving the car a higher level of performance feel. Best of all, you can hear the power thanks to a new 2.75-inch exhaust. After all, when you’re behind the wheel of a 550 hp car you expect to hear all-out performance. This new 2011 GT500 comes with an optional SVT Performance Package. We’re talking about Goodyear EagleF1 SuperCar G: 2 tires, lightweight 19" in the front and 20-inch rear and they are forged aluminum, 3.73 rear axle ratio, SVT performance tuned front and rear shocks, along with stiffer springs allow this beast to pull .97g on the skid pad. The package also includes a unique rear spoiler Gurney Flap for improved handling. Other new features of the 2011 Shelby GT500 Mustang include slightly revised front and rear fascias, a new pedal box for improved clutch use, slotted brake dust shields for improved brake cooling, standard HID (high-intensity discharge) headlamps, MyKey™ programmable vehicle key, integrated spotter mirrors, and fold-down rear headrests.
