Vehicle Detail

My loss is your gain. I bought this car 3 years ago to make into a race car and my car hobby took another direction. It's gotta go. This is a nice (for the year) 944. I wanted this car because it was rust-free and had recent torque-tube / axles and other new parts when I bought it. There is no rust, and it is in great mechanical shape. Only 70,000 miles. Clear title in hand. In the last couple months I've replaced several parts including: - Oil cooler gasket (upgraded to modern style) - Timing belt, balance shaft belt and all new rollers (all new german parts), adjusted correctly. - right front fender (old fender was dented) - New $80.00 battery - General cleanup and checkover, several minor issues fixed. I've given the car a tune-up including new cap/rotor, air cleaner and spark plugs plus changed the oil The good: It is mechanically strong, compressions check out between 170 and 180. It starts right away and idles smoothly. Most things (including windows and headlights) work. Engine doesn't make any funny noises. I think it should pass an inspection without much trouble. There is no rust that I can see, the underside is straight. It drives well and pulls strong. I didn't work on the brakes but they operate well. The bad: The interior is dirty / ripped and torn. The dash is cracked in the usual spots. I have a new (used) heater control unit I'm giving with the car, but you can see from the pictures the stock one needs some work. It also might need a fan relay or temp switch, I ran it yesterday and the radiator fan didn't kick on (but it did before so I know the fans work). A carpet kit and new drivers seat would do wonders for the car. It also needs a new rear latch and the front latch isn't grabbing either. It doesn't have a rear view mirror, and the drivers side mirror is off (broken). You can see the issues in the pictures. Mostly cosmetic. Basically the car just needs some TLC. It would make a great porsche club or track day car as-is with some minor prep. If I was going to do a track day I'd probably put new brakes on, but for the street it's fine and probably inspectable with minor fixes and new mirrors. You could drive it home locally, but if you're going far it might be better to trailer it. I haven't driven it on the road since I've owned it so I can't guarantee its reliability.
