Vehicle Detail
My mom is the second owners of this car that we know of. It was purchased in Kenosha, WI at a dealership used with 6,000 miles on it in 2002. Car has moderate hail damage from a strom a few years ago. No rust on the body and just normal wear and tear. Car had new brakes put on about 10,000 miles ago and new tires put on about 8,000 miles ago. We had the dealership install a remote start unit for her when it was purchased. The original key fob went bad so I picked up a replacement one online. I was able to program everything except the remote start. Car has been driven by a 50+ year old women since 2002. Car was never beat on or raced. I have driven it many times on trips back down to IL to visit family and friends. I am 31 and drive an SUV, so racing isn't my thing! lol Its has a power sunroof, doors, windows, and locks. It also has the upgraded Monsoon Stereo which is a 6 speaker system. Oil changed every 3 months or 3k miles using Mobil 1 synthetic. Has 61,319 orginal miles. Most of which are highway miles driving 1 hour one way to work. Interior has a few cigarette burns in it. She is a smoker so the car will have a slight smoke smell to it. I have been spraying the interior down with Frebreeze to try and get rid of most of it. Other then that the interior is in pretty good shape. No tears or rips that I have found. The engine threw a rod about 2 weeks ago after picking it up from a local mechanic's shop where a strut was being replaced and the transmission sensor was being replaced. Story below on that! :( Reason for selling: We took the car to a local shop here in Wisconsin Rapids on the recommendation via a friend of a friend. The front passenger strut was going bad and the traction control light was coming on and staying on. It took the shop over two weeks to get the car back to us. Upon picking it up I took it for a spin down the main highway. I got about 4 miles from the shop where the speed limit goes from 40 to 65. Stepped on the gas to speed up. Engine reached about 5,000 rpms and I heard a horrible screech/grind noise. Let off the gas and pulled over. Engine sounded fine at idle and fine when I revved it up to about 2,000 rpms. So I stepped on the gas to pull out and I heard the rod knocking when I got to the shift point. Needless to say we are pretty pissed right now and will be fighting the shop in court. Car now makes a rod knock, a pinging noise when driving at a steady pace, then lightly giving it gas. While the strut was replaced, the front right corner still sounds like it was improperly installed maybe.? Hard to tell since the engine is making all kinds of noise now while driving. The plan was to actually sell the Sunfire, like I am now, once the trac light issue and strut were replaced. My mom wants to get a 4 door car since its to hard for her to load my 16 month old son into the back seat. So now she is going to just take the loss and sell it as is. Car has never given her an issue since she bought it except for the strut and transmission sensor. Other then that its been smooth sailing. Title is free and clear. I'm writing this big so you see it: THE COLD AIR INTAKE PICTURED IS NOT INCLUDED. STOCK AIR SYSTEM IS GOING BACK ON IT! The car is sold as-is with no warranty or returns! Car must be picked up. It starts with no issues but with the rod knock and ocassionally stalling at stops due to the oil pressure drop caused by the blown rod, I would not advise trying to drive this very far. Upon looking online, the car WITH the hail damage would be worth 3700.00. A new motor with a 3 year warranty ranges from $600 to $1200 depending on where you buy it. Labor to install the engine would be around $6-800 at a stealership. So Max you have $2000 in repairs if you went completely trhough a dealership. Used low mile engines can be had for $400-$600. If you are handy its REALLY easy to swap an engine out. I have done a few myself and if you are replacing it with the same engine its pretty simple and direct. Unplug some electrical harness', unbolt some components, unbolt from trans, pull engine out. Drop the new one in and hook everything back up and install whatever components off the old engine that didn't come on the new one. 2 friends and a Sunday and you'll be driving it to work on Monday. The free report on here is showing a lien on the car. The car has been paid off for a few years now. It also shows 3 owners, which must be a clerical error. Unless someone literal bought the car and took it back a month later. Which doesn't make any sense. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
