Maryland’s state inspection program is the most comprehensive in the country, since vehicles newer than 20 years old are only required to be inspected when they change hands instead of annually, as in most other states. The brakes are actually measured with a micrometer, unlike the “casual glance” technique employed by most state inspection programs.
