1974 Oldsmobile 442 Hurst Olds Indianapolis Pace Car This is one of 1800 1974 Oldsmobile Hurst Olds Indy Pace Cars made. I believe this model would be considered as a 442/ Hurst Olds with the W-25 option. This Hurst Olds came from the factory in Cameo white paint with gold stripes outlined with a thin black stripe. The Indy Pace Car decals were a dealer installed item, but are still available in reproduction, as well as the gold decals. I originally purchased this car with the intention of using it as a donor car for my son's 1973 Hurst Olds. I've owned it for about 4 years, and over that time I accumulated enough parts for his car where I just couldn't see destroying such a rare car. This Hurst Olds was bought from the original owner who stopped driving it in 1983, so it had been sitting for 27 years. The paint is original, and as they say, they only come original once. The side stripes and the trunk stripe had been redone, and several spots on the car were touched up as a preventative rust measure. I never attempted to start it until several weeks ago when a friend and I managed to fire it up after all these years. It still sounded strong, so I wanted to leave it up to the next owner to decide to dismantle this car or bring it back to its former glory. I checked the numbers on the engine and they do match. The prior owner stated that this entire car has all its original parts, and the mileage is correct. I'm selling this as a great car for parts, or for someone to buy their winter project early to perform a total restoration. This car has many rare hard to find parts for the guy who knows what is missing on their car. The majority of these parts fit any 1973, 1974, or 1975 Olds Cutlass, Cutlass Supreme, Cutlass Salon, 442, or Hurst Olds. A buyer could purchase this car and use what they need, and most likely make more than the purchase price back on the parts they don't use. This car has air conditioning, power steering, and power front disc brakes. There are a pair of sport mirrors, but the mirror is missing on the passenger side. The gas tank straps still hold the gas tank up, and the frame seems to be in decent shape and still usable, but the floors, and trunk pan will certainly need to be replaced. The inside trunk lip is still solid as shown in the pictures. The parts that impressed me the most were the fenders, and the doors. The hood and the trunk lid are still usable. It has the air induction ram-air hood. The quarter panels will need to be replaced, and the two-tone vinyl top. I suppose an awesome body man could keep the original quarters. The chrome bumpers are both very straight and in good driver quality condition. The rubber is still in good condition on the front and rear bumpers. This car has a really decent interior with swivel bucket seats. There are some original Oldsmobile floor mats. It is very hard to find this type of interior. The console still has the sliding door compartment. The week before I purchased this car, the prior owner got the brilliant idea to dismantle the headliner interior trim. He saw how much these parts were selling for on eBay, and was going to list those items. I fortunately made the purchase before he listed one item. The headliner is still in good shape, and I believe if the parts were re-installed it would look just fine. He found a copy of the build sheet and I noticed it says W30, so that may document it as a W30 car. I don't know much about how to document these cars, but it will be included in the auction. The stereo has disappeared, but there is a CB radio sitting on the dash, with the long CB antenna attached to the trunk. Those items will be included in the auction. Lol! The CB is not mounted to the dash. It was just placed on top for that picture. I never saw any cracks in the dash. All the windows are still good, and I think the windshield is original with no stone chips. This car has Goodyear Eagle ST raised white lettered radials with decent tread on a set of Super Stock II wheels with bolt on centers, and trim rings.
