Vehicle Detail

1956 Desoto Firedome Seville Coupe An honest, no-excuses car you could get in and drive anywhere you like, any time you like. It was originally built in California, ending up in Las Vegas before I bought it. The car is in excellent mechanical shape and is driven regularly at highway speeds. You could easily drive it home without a worry. It recently had an entire brake job, including new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, new flex hoses and new brake shoes. Because dependability is important to me, it has had the carb rebuilt, a new water pump, a new fuel pump, new belts and hoses, the suspension has been looked after, new shocks, generator, voltage regulator, brand new battery, I can’t remember what else I’ve done but whatever it’s needed, it has had and all the bills are there. Everything works, the engine and transmission were done before I bought it. It has the heavy duty radiator and 6 bladed fan, so has never overheated. The car starts easily, runs beautifully, doesn’t smoke or make any noises, shifts perfectly and drives straight. The original 331 Hemi engine makes the car get up a go enough to impress any friend who has ever driven it. The previous owner told me that he was told that the car had been repainted a long time ago. Most car collector friends of mine think the paint is original. It looks excellent however old it is. The glass is all perfect and the chrome and stainless are very good, except for the rear bumper, which isn’t marked or anything, it just looks faded compared to the rest of the chrome. Also, for some reason, again on the back of the car only, there is some pitting on the tail light doors. I’ve taken a picture so you can see it. OK for a driver but if you were going to show the car in a contest, you’d probably want to do them over so they look as nice as the rest of the car. This summer I finally had the car completely reupholstered. It still had the original interior but it was very faded and dried out. I have pictures of it before it was redone. I also have NOS dealer seat covers you can have with the car if you want to protect the new seats. There’s a trunk full of extra parts that come with it along with the service manual, the sales brochure and the build sheet from Chrysler. I’m not sure what else is there but, if it belongs to the car it comes with it. My health has gone bad this year and I won’t be driving it much anymore so it might as well go to someone who wants a car they can use and enjoy. I have more pictures, including some of the underside, which looks fine. If you want more info or pictures or want to come and take it for a drive, just ask. I’ve sold my other cars and have 100% feedback. I’m willing to take a $200 deposit and if within the 7 days after the auction, you come to get the car and it is isn’t as I described it, you don’t have to take the car or close the deal. I sold my last car to someone in Europe, so I had some experience with overseas shipping and can help an overseas buyer with their shipping arrangements, if they need help at this end. (0) Feedback bidders need to contact me before bidding or their bids will be cancelled. Negative feedback bidder's bids will be blocked. A non-refundable deposit of 10% of the selling price is required within 2 days of the sale. PayPal preferred. The balance must be received within 7 days or the buyer will be reported and the vehicle re-listed. The car does not leave my possession until the selling price is paid in full and irreversibly in my bank account. There will be no exceptions! The car is sold as is, where is, with no warranties expressed or implied. For potential U.S. buyers, taking cars back to the States is simple as long as the car is 25 years old or older. There is one form to fill out at the border, that’s it. For the Rules and a copy of the form, go to: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/FAQ%20Site/pages/page2.html#Anchor-28852 Look at Paragraph 8. On Sep-18-10 at 09:28:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to those of you who are asking. Yes, the bidder with the low feedback is sincere and has been approved. On Sep-22-10 at 21:59:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Just so everyone understands, there are now two, proven honest and sincere bidders with 0 feeback, because they are very new to eBay. I was asked if I could shoot some video of the engine starting up from cold and of the exhaust. I borrowed a small video camera and did the best I could. It's not very good and I shake a bit, but it might help if you're interested. My friend thought I should post it for everyone to see. I set up a You Tube account as hotjavajim but I think you can reach it if you try this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnBjzFxaET4 In the video, when I mention that you don't see any black smoke, I was referring to the fact that sometimes, if the choke is fully on when it first starts up, it runs a bit rich until the choke kicks off. Also, for the fellow without a passport and anyone else in a similar positon, I checked and it is possible to deliver the car to the U.S. side with the proper paperwork already done. You could meet me there or I could deliver it to a shipper in Buffalo or NIagara Falls. We can discuss the arrangements if it's necessary. Thanks to everyone for their interest and their bids. Whoever wins, I'm sure you'll be very happy. Good Luck.
