This auction is for a 1987 Chevrolet one ton utility truck that was purchased new by my company and used exclusively by me. It is 60" cab to axle, two wheel drive, single rear wheel, 9000 gvw, with a 9' Reading utility body. In 1993 I removed the perfectly good 350 gasoline engine and installed a Cummins 5.9 liter diesel engine. THIS WAS NOT A JUNK YARD SWAP! The engine was purchased through a Cummins dealer along with an istallation kit to properly install it in a Chevrolet/GMC chassis and use a GM transmission. I retained the stock radiator and springs and this truck sat better than the 1989 Dodge Cummins I owned at the time. The cab and utility body are in rough shape but the chassis and drive train are fine. I was either going to restore this truck or use the chassis and engine to put under a 50's Chevrolet pick up with a 9' bed. I have too many other projects and this truck has been idle since 2005. New rear springs were installed prior to removing this truck from service. The engine is set up for a GM transmission which is currently a rebuilt turbo 400. It also has a Recor filter/ water seperator and a block heater. It only takes one battery. The engine swap was done when the truck was at 100,000 miles so there are 149,000 miles on the Cummins engine. I have a low reserve and will be happy to answer your questions.
