It is with great regret that I am selling this BMW 840CI. The short of it is...bought the car in July, have a newborn, and a child seat does not fit in the vehicle and this is a deal breaker for us because I can't pickup or drop off the kid. The backseat was an afterthought. This is really a 2 person car. You can fit a couple of 5-12 yr old kids in the back without issue but no baby seats. OK, so this is a super rare 8-Series BMW. The car was made in 02/1996 in Germany and is 1 of only 143 840CI's ever made in 96' for North America. So if you are going to collect an 8er, you should be looking for a 96' or a 850CSI which are way big bucks. This would be the only 96' 840CI on Ebay or anywhere else for that matter. I haven't spent too much time with the car but have been taking it to the office on nice days. I will go over what I know and what I inherited from the previous owner. With the exception of the last couple of months this car has spent its life in Sunny Orlando Florida. It has really only had two owners of note plus me, with a very clean Autocheck report. The car has a clean title and comes with many receipts for maintenance done since 2003 totaling around $10,000 plus the cost of the 18" wheels ($2100). Exterior · I Just had the car professionally detailed. The paint was clay barred, compound rubbed, high speed buffed, and sealed. It looks fantastic. Even though the car is 14 yrs old the paint looks better than most late model black cars only a few years old. I get plenty of compliments on the condition. The original headlights were replaced ($1611) and they flip and function like brand new. There are some light fine scratches and normal wear on the paint. The hood has almost no rock chips at all. This car doesn’t need any body work,see for yourself in the pictures. The car has Zero rust! · wheels and tires have been changed to 18” Deep dish BMW wheels and are in excellent condition without any blemishes. The tires are in great shape and are Michelin Pilot Z rated sport tires and handle unbelievably. Plenty left on the tread (75%-80%). The original set of wheels and center caps are included in the sale of this car. They are in descent shape. There is an original wheel full spare tire in the trunk. · All lights, blinkers, housings, mirrors and wipers look great without any noticeable UV damage or weather wear. From the history I can gather, this car was garaged since new. · All door hood and trunk compartments open as they should. No lock issues at all. · The car comes with two keys with built in keyless entry and alarm system controls. Engine / Performance · This car has the M62 4.4L V8 engine that was introduced in the 96’ 840CI. The 94’-95’ 840CI contains the less desirable 4.0L M60 engine. This one has more torque and was only made in 96’ and 97’. · Engine starts right up with the 2 new interstate batteries and idles perfectly smooth. · The transmission and steering are crisp and smooth. There are no funny noises or grumbles. This car has the most unbelievable steering I’ve ever experienced and I’ve had many high end cars. There is just something special about the ease of the steering….it’s just engineering perfection. · exhaust is quiet and not like a sports car. · Transmission – Shifts effortlessly and has the steptronic manual shifting system that actually is pretty fun to drive and perks up the performance. · This is not a sports car but rather a perfectly engineered highway cruiser. The cars of today may be quicker off the line but I would put this car in the exotic class when it comes to the open road. · This car has a good suspension and drives straight. You can only really appreciate this car when you effortlessly get it over 90 MPH. I did 135 mph myself and she barely broke a sweat. · No overheating issues. The car has a new radiator and flush. · Braking is very good without any shaking or pulsation. I know the rear brakes were just done in March, not sure about the front. · Cruise Control Works · Fresh Synthetic oil change Interior / accessories · Windows – This car has 4 all up/ down one touch power windows without the center post. Looks awesome with them all down and the Sunroof open. All function as they should. · Sunroof – Works in both positions. · Leather Seats – Leather is in very good condition with no cracks or tears at all. I would rate the leather a 8.5/10 · Dashboard – Clean · Heated seats – work · Seat belts / Restraint system – This 840CI has dual airbags and special edition chromed seat belt housings and seat back levers. Adds a nice touch. · Headliner – The headliner on any 8 – Series BMW eventually sags. Doesn’t matter how well you keep it. This one has been previously refastened in 05’. It isn’t sagging but does show signs that it is beginning to loosen in spots. It’s still good for now but will likely need to be refastened after the next few years. · Heat / AC – Auto temp control works well and AC blows cold. · Radio / CD Changer – Original system with CD Changer in the trunk. All pixels are present on the display and everything works. Speakers sound pretty good for a stock system. · Lower seat trim – The lower seat plastic trim is a little loose on the driver’s side because of previous adjustments to the power seats. I will try to properly reattach. Not really an issue just an imperfection. · On Board Computer – Virtually all 8-Series Computers eventually loose pixilation on the display and have to be refurbed. This one is pretty darn good and is only missing a couple of pixels and doesn’t really affect the display. It still has 90% or so left. Carpet - Thick dark grey carpet in excellent condition. Trunk interior is also in great shape Known Issues · The driver side power seat does not currently move in all directions. Recline works and up and down. I hear the motors trying to work but I think there just off track. I haven't had the time to mess with it. I have tried to be as forthcoming as possible on this car. Again, awesome car that gets the attention of an exotic, not perfect but a very nice example. Please remember you are buying a 14yr old car that is not a low maintenance car and is not cheap to maintain.
