1998 Ford Shuttle Bus / Cargo Van converted to run on straight vegetable oil This van has been used by me in my live sound business for the last three years. We no longer need two trucks so this one is on the market. here are the known issues with the van: 1. it needs brakes. 2. it needs the flap for the front heater to be freed (back heater works fine). The van has a second air conditioner for the back, both units blow cold. It has 4 heavy duty padlocks for the doors (two cylinder locks for the front doors, two padlocks for the back doors), all keyed the same. It has an MP3/DVD/CD player with USB input and remote, a CD radio (needs an antenna) and a PA speaker mounted just above the windshield (perfect for yelling at bad drivers). The vegetable oil tank can is inside the cargo area of the van (as can be seen in the pictures). I think it's about 65 gallons. The tank can also be used as a bench if you throw a pad on top. The van is equipped with E-Track rails on both sides and back. Perfect for securing equipment, tools, shelves, lofts or anything else you can think of. This van has been converted to run on straight vegetable oil by Fossil Free Fuels just outside of Pittsburgh PA. It has a top of the line, computerized, two-tank setup. The van starts on diesel, and runs on it until the engine temperature reaches 170 degrees and the fuel temperature reaches 70 degrees (via a heated coil in the veg oil tank, heated by a line from the radiator), at which point the computer system automatically switches to the vegetable oil tank. When the vehicle is then switched off, the computer keeps the engine running until the vegetable oil is purged from the system, then switches off. Vegetable oil is a clean burning fuel that can be obtained from restaurants, in many cases, for free. To recycle the oil you will need a filtration system. I use the filtration system built by Fossil Free Fuels, but they currently recommend www.absolutecentrifuge.com . towing/shipping of this vehicle will be the buyers responsibility.
