Vehicle Detail

For sale is the finest 500cc GP replica racer NEVER sold in The United States. Essentially, the only thing that has been left stock is the frame. Everything else has been modified, re-engineered or updated. The FINISHED fully updated stock transmission (old gears included) GP shift pattern from a modified Raask rearset (unused portions included) modern o-ring chain conversion modern sprockets and carrier one-off custom offset GSXR rear wheel for modern tire and correct alignment fully adjustable Fox shock with remote reservoir ride height adjuster (I have the original dog bone) swing arm under-braced at Lance Gamma's battery relocated to air box hole in fwd frame remainder of void in cast section of fwd frame is now oil tank for injection new injection oil pump, lines and check valves new clutch, not abused new aec actuator cables and valves; system works perfectly racing coils and plug wires new rubber throughout engine and cooling system solid state flasher relay for LED lights complete zero miles race take-off front end swap from an '04 GSXR 1000 The engine is truly astonishing and the bike runs perfectly; it's a full Lance Gamma build with offset bored carbs jetted for his pod filters and hydroformed Tommy Crawford chambers engineered specifically for this engine setup yielding 112 HP AT THE WHEEL! This is the wicked, shrinkage inducing two stoke monster you've read about, but highly tuned and on a strict weight loss diet with modern running gear worthy of the legendary "accelerates like an arrow from God's crossbow" motor. I can't say enough about the 2004 GSX-R 1000 front end; it's lighter than the original by far and is almost 20 years ahead technologically. With the huge radial mounted brakes you can loft the rear of the bike skyward with one incautious finger. The modern USD forks are an amazing improvement over how the old steel tubes worked even with Race-tech emulators. This machine stays superbike planted in the turns and remains as flickable as ever. Almost all the work was professionally done at Rick Lance's shop at considerable expense. I carried out the front end swap myself and had intended to finish this project years ago, but do not have the time. I thought it would be good to pass the torch to another enthusiast with the skill and time to finish this beautiful machine, and I'm willing to do that for thousands less than what I'm into it for. The UNFINISHED Ducati 748 tail plastics, integrated amber/red LED brake/turn signals to match, mirrors with LED turn signals in them and the pictured RGV 250 race glass is all included, but yet to be mounted. It will need paint. ISSUES The clutch drags when the bike is cold. There is a shim here: http://www.rg500.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=RGWasher&Category_Code=RG500 that's supposed to fix this common problem. The fuel petcock "works" with a big flat head screwdriver but needs replacing. You can get one here: http://stores.ebay.com/Ezpezie , just ask if he doesn't have one on display. The front wheel I bought from an unscrupulous Ebayer has a wobble. The 2009 GSX-R wheel would match the existing rear better anyway and should work with 5mm spacers and longer caliper bolts. (2004 = 300mm zero-offset rotors versus 2009 = 310mm zero-offset rotors with same axle on both) Fuel check valves leak. Again. I'd try Rick's new LG3 valves: http://www.lancegamma.com/tripod.htm Oil injection needs to be disconnected when bike sits for more than a few days. There's a fix but I can't remember who has it. The rearsets look dated and mismatched, a sexy new set that will mount right up can be found here: http://www.lancegamma.com/rearsets.htm The lower TC expansion chambers got slightly dented on the bottom, one is patched. Both hold air and the power seems enaffected, so I left them as is. A brand new replacement set of Gen5 TC's are available from: http://www.lancegamma.com/html/engine.html if you're $o inclined. The HISTORY of the bike as I know it... In '02 or maybe '03 I purchased the bike from a friend who had imported the bike some years before from Canada to Maui, HI where we both lived. I paid the back taxes, titled and re-registered it there in Hawaii. I don't know exactly when Rick did the build, but he will probably remember the "Maui bike" because He assisted me with the repair quote for the insurance claim against the County of Maui. More on that in a sec. The previous owner had lost the front on Crater Road and rashed up one side, which is why he had shipped it to Rick for "the works" on the suspension and engine. When I bought the bike it had been sitting in a garage with really low miles on the rebuild. It perked up nicely after running a few minutes and it has been started and run religiously since then. I rode it up Haleakala on the odd weekend here and there, but mostly commuting in traffic for a total of less than 500 miles. I would characterize my riding as spirited but I've never taken it for a track day. The motor is incredibly lively so there's no need to abuse the bike to get it going. One foggy Sunday morning I backed in on the rear brake too hard and low sided on Crater Road, wrinkling the fork tubes and rashing up the right side. It took me about a year to find/afford all the parts for repairs, and the very day I renewed the registration it was knocked over in the parking lot of the DMV by a county vehicle. Fast forward two years and the claim is finally paid and I've since decided I want more chassis control and need to build a bike like Mark Dent's. I find a brand new front end and started assembling parts for the transformation; Ducati 748 tail unit, integrated LED brake/turn light, LED turn signal mirrors, LED flasher relay, RGV race glass and new wind screen. Fast forward another few years and It's STILL not done, my life has changed a lot and I'm wanting to pass the torch along. The frame is straight and pristine, the motor is perfect, as is the suspension with the exception of the front wheel which came pre-damaged from an unscrupulous Ebay seller. I think an '09+ GSX-R front would be the best replacement because it matches the look of the custom rear hoop from Rick Lance. Since the rear suspension works so spectacularly well, I was going to leave it alone even though it's a bit heavy by modern standards. Some guys will swap the RGV 250 bananna rear in, but I don't think it's qualified to handle all that power in the long run. I've tried to put most impressive engineering Suzuki has to offer over the last three decades into one bike and I'd like to believe I'm really close mechanically. There are a few remaining issues I've listed above. The cosmetics are within my capacity to complete, but I just can't seem to make time to get it done. My family has grown a lot in the past three years, so my priorities and interests have changed. I don't know, it's just not as fun for me to ride as it used to be... frankly it's a bit scary. I hope this helps you get an idea of where the bike is coming from and what it is. My CL ad keeps getting flagged for some reason unknown by me, so I'm listing it here on Ebay due in part to that frustration and also the interest expressed by a surprising number of parties. Posting a link to the Youtube videos at: http://www.youtube.com/user/submarinermaui?feature=mhum is probably what got me flagged on CL, we'll see if it happens here too. I'm still listing the bike locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if someone walks up and hands me ten grand. On Sep-13-10 at 00:44:58 PDT, seller added the following information: *** REVISION *** *** REVISION *** *** REVISON *** As I'm looking through the rules about selling on eBay, I see that I'm not allowed to list an item I'm currently selling elsewhere. I can see how this might be unfair to someone wanting to buy my bike on eBay, so I cancelled the Craigslist ad. I was not aware that I am not allowed to say "I reserve the right to end the auction early if someone walks up and hands me ten grand". My feelings on this are mixed, but I will abide by eBay's rules because I value my relationship with them and understand that bidders need to have confidence in the sanctity of the eBay auction process. If any of this seem unclear, let me be plain. The bike will sell to the highest bidder in this auction provided he/she can pay in accordance with the rules I've set forth. So bid with confidence!
