Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US ZH-TW X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 The third series of the Thunderbird was one of the great signature designs of the 1960s. Stylistically related to the brand new 1961 Lincoln Continental, the Thunderbird was constructed around a new unibody structure with A-arms and coil springs making up the front suspension and the solid axle on leaf springs. With clean flanks and a nose that came to a sharp point, the car had an almost ballistic urgency, and "Bullet Bird" was the name that stuck. It was available in coupe, convertible, and ”factory roadster variants which came along in 1962. This convertible has the hard tonneu, or “roadster” package, although it is aftermarket installed. It has the Thunderbird 390 Special (300 Horsepower) and a Cruise-O-Matic transmission both of which were rebuilt at about 101,000 miles according to the previous owner. Therefore it has about 5400 miles on it post restoration. I purchased it from a collector in Southern California who did a complete restoration of the car. The paint is gorgeous, and the detail of the engine compartment is superb as the pictures show. It has power windows and power seat, which work fine. All of the gauges work fine, as does the AM radio. It has factory air conditioning which I have never used. Therefore, it should probably be recharged, as the fan blows but not cold. I just never use A/C in a convertible. It has a continental kit, new white wall tires, and Kelsey Hayes wire wheels which are in great condition. The 390 cid overhead valve V8 (rebuilt) engine is rated at 300 horsepower, (rebuilt) automatic transmission, independent coil spring suspension, four-wheel power (new pump) drum brakes (rebuilt), and the wheelbase is 113.2”. The radiator has been re-cored, and all of the hydraulic lines for the power top are new. The fuel pump is new, and the gas tank had been removed and “boiled” out and sealed according to the previous owner. The mufflers are new. The top is new along with the rear window. The continental kit is easily removed, if not desired, and two chrome bolts can be placed in the rear bumper, so there is no cosmetic distraction to the bumper. The data plate indicates the following: Body;76A, Color D, Trim; 57, Date 24E, DSQ; 65; and Transmission; 4. All in all, this is a beautiful 1962 Thunderbird convertible. It runs and drives great, and is very reliable. For more pictures go to www.picturetrail.com/wishlee123, and click on the 1962 Thunderbird photo album. The description is accurate and honest as are the pictures, however it is sold as is with no warranty stated or implied. Please see my eBay feedback which demonstrates the integrity of my listing.
