Vehicle Detail
Hello I am selling a rare ( in this country anyway) 1967 DKW/ AUTO UNION MUNGA 6 jeep ( the 6 stand for the fact that it accomodates 6 people total) I imported the Munga from France in the winter 06-07, it has a clear Michigan title. the car was running but was loosing compression from the crank seals, this is a 3 cylinder, 1 liter 2 stroke motor. so we tested and decided it will need a rebuilt, at that time the decision was made that if the engine was out might as well restore the truck and give it a new paint job, but that was 3 years ago and it has not happenned yet, at least the Munga has been stored inside all that time. This model was a "communication" model, used by border patrols and military in Europe, it is a 24 volt system. The top cover is in very good condition, I also will include with the sale the couple extra parts I have already purchased and a 3 volume repair manual ( small catch it is in French, but the pictures are universal!) As an Audi lover I had purchased it since these DKW models were what was left of the Auto Union after WWII and later was sold to VW in the mid 60's, they in turn revived it as the new Audi we have today. this Munga gave birth to the VW Iltis, which in return gave birth to the URQuattro. I am selling it with no reserve as I would like to finance another car purchase and have already sold a few. I realise that my intentions were good, but too many projects and too little time brought me to this decision. Hopefully someone will see the "fun" potential that can be had with such a different jeep. It could be restored as original ( many part suppliers in Europe) or as some have done overthere replace the fairly low power 1 liter engine with a Ford V4 or straight four from Renault or Opel or maybe why not stuff a 1.8T in there to keep it in the Audi family or why not a 3.8 Audi V8 as someone is putting in a 70's Audi coupe! The truck is sold with NO RESERVE, at that price they would not even let you put it on the boat to import it. I just hope the new owner will restore it and not use it as a parts car, it is very solid and deserve a new lease on life. Feel free to contact me thru e-bay, I will e-mail you my phone number and answer all questions. I will make myself available for inspection or for your shipping company, but all shipping charges are the responsability of the buyer. I can also keep it stored for a while inside if you need to make arrangements but it would need to be paid in full so you do not forget about it! Thank for looking Francois
