According to the book The Shadow Owners' Companion, (2006 Jon Waples) "A model desirability graph, correlated to technical specs and mods, pegs the 1972/1973 model as the one to have." This 1973 Silver Shadow has been with the same loving owner for the past 14 years. Recently we have sold three other cars for the same owner. If you look at the recent sales of the 1968 Jaguar XKE 2+2, the 1982 Delorean DMC, and the green 1987 Jaguar XJ6 you will get a feel for the quality of cars that are coming out of this private collection. But really all you need to do is to look at the detailed photos of this Silver Shadow in the two photo galleries below and your mind will be put to rest. The quality of this car is obvious. 1973 is a desirable year for the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow because it is the last year of the chrome bumpers. As with any car manufacturer, improvements are made throughout the years. Since this is the last of the chrome bumper cars it is the most technically advanced chrome bumper Rolls Royce ever made. Even among the 1973 models, the Silver Mink body color makes this a particularly fine example to own. There are a lot of white and black models out there for sale, but it's always fun to own a rare color! This Silver Shadow comes with the original owner's manual which shows "Silver Mink" to be the original color. The car has been repainted once prior to this owner, and even after 14+ years the paint still looks like new. All of the electric windows work, the electric seats all work, the central door locks work, and even after 37 years the clock still keeps perfect time. The dash features the original radio and 8 track player. This classic Rolls Royce still has the foot rests for the rear passengers in the storage pockets behind the front seats. The lights around the rear vanity mirrors all work properly (there are both a vanity and reading lights for each rear mirror). The wool headliner is in great shape. And the burl wood by the front and rear windows, dash, rear vanity mirrors, and garnish rails all looks great! The body on this classic Rolls is in excellent condition. The undercarriage looks great and there is no sign of rust. The long flat panels on the side of the car are perfectly straight. My theaory is as long as people know what they are getting they will never be dissapointed. There is a barely noticable slight ding on one part of the hood. I went out of my way to photograph it and it can be viewed in the close up photo gallery (it's slight so it was a bit hard to get the lighting just right so it showed up). There is an inperfection below the beautifully chromed bumper on the passenger side rear. It is right under the bumper so it is not noticable unless you are on your hands and knees looking for it. The last imperfection I wanted to mention is just behind the front, passenger side wheel. All imperfections no matter how small can be seen in the close up photo gallery. This car looks absolutely stunning and you will not be dissapointed with this georgeous classic Rolls Royce. The interior is also extremely nice. There are no tears or rips in the leather interior. The owner of this car is meticulous about caring for the cars in his collection. Every year the car is put into storage for the winter months. Every fall and spring (before and after each storage session) the owner has treated the leather with leather conditioner. Sitting in this fine luxury automobile is comfortable and soft. The ride height will make you feel like royalty and the rear of the car has an automatic self-leveling system that adjusts the ride height according to the load in the car! The only thing we are aware of that needs any attention is the compressor for the air conditioning. The owner mentioned that a new compressor could be found for around $285 (it's a general motors part). To give you a better idea of the level to which this Rolls Royce has been kept, I will list of some of the $8000 worth of work done in the past 1500 miles.
