**ONE FINAL UPDATEI checked the oil today and it was down about half a quart. The last oil change was about 2,500 miles ago so it's almost due, but I topped it off. This is the first time I've added any oil since it was changed 2,500 miles ago. The coolant also looked a little low but well within the normal range. All other fluids were tip top. So, I hope that's not a big deal but please bid accordingly. Thanks again for looking and good luck bidding! *MORE PICTURES AT BOTTOM OF PAGE! *****HEY EVERYONE,It was brought to my attention that I worded something very poorly. Apparently I made it sound like it still NEEDS front tie rods and rear brakes. Actually, these are 2 things that are brand new in the car. I had it listed on Craigslist, and my first potential buyer took it for a pre-sale inspection. They found that it needed those 2 things, so I had them DONE before listing the car again. Hi there everyone, up for sale is my 1992 Toyota Corolla all-trac Wagon. This is my second all-trac. My first rusted out beyond repair, and I brought this one up from Florida last winter. I've put about 8,000 mostly highway miles on it since then. Now, I am returning to college and I don't have the money to keep it. My dad's providing a car for the school year and this one needs to go to help with some of the costs. Since I've had it: I put in new front struts, new inner and outer tie rods (both $400 jobs), new rear brakes. Earlier this summer I had an interested buyer who had a full pre-sale inspection done at Main Street Motors in Ann Arbor, MI. That was when it was found to need the tie rods and brakes. I also just put in a brand new OEM Delco alternator. Let's see - a couple issues it still has. Since I purchased it (8,000 miles ago), it has idled at 500 rpms once the engine is well heated up. I've had my mechanic tinker with it a couple times but it still drops down a bit lower than I think it should after a good long drive. Sometimes it seems to hesitate very slightly off the get-go -- I think this may be interrelated. The awd system in these cars is intended to lock the wheels in a 50/50 front/rear power split. Although with the car on blocks the front and rear wheels visibly appear to be getting equal power, the green awd dash light does not turn on and I am not sure than it is locking in as intended. These cars are all wheel drive all the time, though. There is a push button lock the front and rear in at exactly 50% each; this is the part that I am not sure is engaging. Even with awd always going, this car gets around 33 mpg in normal driving. I just want to specify here as well: The car is SUPPOSED to be in AWD all the time, and it is. I don't think that it will lock in at 50/50 front and back, but I could be mistaken. As it is, it is phenomenal in the snow. It can make a starting stop on the steep hill I live on when covered in wet snow. In fact, I even tried multiple times last year to make it lose traction off the get-go in the snow, with very little success. This is the hill that entertains us in the winter as we watch car after truck after Escalade make long running starts at, only to fail multiple times before turning around to seek another route. So although I don't think it will lock in at 50/50, it still blows away all 2WD and many 4WD vehicles Since taking the pictures shown here, I did replace the chipped marker light on the driver's side with the intact marker light from my old car. For $20 I'll include both with the sale, otherwise you can pick one or the other. The driver's side headlight is missing a clip and is taped securely into place. There is some rust, which I was very careful to include in the pictures. I took a picture of every imperfection on the car! Please look at these and also note that they are close-ups that magnify the flaw. Overall the body is fairly rough but extremely solid. The Florida sun did a number on the paint and there are a few dents and dings (none of them caused by me), but these are cosmetic only and there is no rust that could not easily be cut out and repaired. I've been told on two occasions (once by the family mechanic who I trust very highly and once by Main Street Motors who I've never dealt with before or since) that the overall solidity of the body and undercarriage is exceptional for a car its age. It has factory cruise which I have not successfully gotten to engage. Manual windows and locks (which function perfectly and which I find as a desirable quality). Heater is great, air conditioning weak. Good tires, no cracked or chipped glass, aftermarket Kenwood CD player.. however, only the back speakers work. Doesn't use any oil; I always keep an eye on all the gages and fluid levels. I've taken a few longish (500-1,000 mile) trips with no problems. There are probably some things I haven't thought of that you will want to know. Please contact me with any and all questions before bidding!! I want my car to sell and the new owner to feel good about the transaction, and since eBay sales don't always accommodate a test-drive before bidding, I have been as descriptive as possible in all regards. There are no problems that have not been described. I've even mentioned things that no one else who has driven the car has noticed.. for example, in comparison to my old Corolla, I notice a slight hesitation at times with a low rpm. My dad has been driving the car a lot lately and does not notice it. After the pre-sale inspection the person who test-drove it raved about what a pleasure to drive it is. It would be awesome if we can work out a test-drive before bidding. Please contact me for any reason. Perhaps I can work something out with a local buyer. At this point, I understand the value of these cars and how sought after they are, but monthly college payments are looming and it needs to go within the month. So, I'm asking less than I'd prefer to get and know I could get with more patience and time. Just google all-trac corolla reviews and you'll see how sought after these are. My mom used to have a '98 Subaru wagon.. and the Corolla would beat it up a snowy hill no problem. Finally, this car ought to be ready to drive anywhere. I'd even be willing to drive it to the winning bidder. I need to be at school on the 6th of September, otherwise I'd more be enthusiastic about this option. At this point, I will do this if it will help accommodate a sale, but please CONTACT ME FIRST to make sure it will work out, and be ready to take full responsibility for your end of the deal. I can probably drive most anywhere in the lower 48, I would need to charge you for gas, around $100 for a flight if you're east of the Rockies or $150 west, and we'd have to either meet at a major airport or at least somewhere with a greyhound and an agreed upon price for that extra expense. I love road-trips and generally would love to work this kind of thing out, but I don't have the time now to be very extravagant. Please, only very serious, responsible buyers who are great with communication if you want to work this out, and PLEASE contact me first if you are expecting to bid and have me drive the car to you. At this point I'd prefer a local sale, or I'd be happy to help you arrange shipping. I could also hold the car for you until you can come pick it up, for an indefinite time period as long as you send the deposit. If you buy it and need me to hold it, I'll take it off insurance and not drive it. I'm asking a $300 deposit and as long as I receive that, I can hold it as long as you want within reason. Until it's sold I will be driving it and the mileage will increase slightly (local driving only). If I've missed anything, please contact me. My cell # is 517-320-1976, home phone is 517-439-4213, and you can email me through eBay or at jkhaslam@hotmail.com. Please go view all of the pictures at http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u282/jkhaslam/sales%20temps/book/ Thanks for looking.. and, at this point, for reading through my long, rambling write-up! Good luck! Oh.. upon adding the pictures, I came up with the following new info: sorry about the dog hair.. my dad always borrows my car when taking the dog for some reason...It does have the full roof rack assembly.. the 2 cross beam are removable and I had them off because it was actually easier to put a canoe on top with the rack off. But, it will be included with the sale. The reason it is up on the curb for the pictures is so that I could take pics of the underside. There is a pull-chain to open the hood because the cable on the inside of the car doesn't work.
