Vehicle Detail

1964 Volvo PV 544 in Excellent Condition - this has to be one of the nicest 544's around - in great condition, and everything works. Note, the mileage on the odometer is 83481, however I do not know the actual mileage. I purchased this car about a year ago as my "fair weather" driver, and I haven't been disappointed. Unfortunately, I've got another kid on the way - so I have to part with it. This car is AWESOME - it starts up without fail, runs like a dream, cruises on the highway's here in NC without a problem (though I've rarely had it out on the freeway - I have a 4 mile commute). This car is equipped with a set of dual SU carburetors, and they work great. This is an excellent car to have if you're looking for a "ready to drive" 544 that will be trouble-free for some time. The radio is also a classic radio - and very hard to find. I listen to NPR on it on the FM band all the time. Since purchasing the car I've replaced the rear brake cylinders and pads and rear muffler. Prior to my purchasing it it had been fully restored and lovingly cared for, I have always garaged it, and only driven it in sunny weather. I'm more than happy to answer any questions or provide additional photos - just ask. I will also throw in a SW-EM alternator upgrade kit (the car has a working generator in it now, the kit allows you to easily upgrade to an alternator), a drum puller, the 1964 antique plate on the car (shown in the photo), a car cover (used), and some extra hubcaps. I will include numerous receipts and a couple of books (SU carb maintenance, PV544 historical book) as well. Delivery is not included, it will be up to the buyer to arrange for transport of this car. This is a clear title car, with no lien. This car is a 1964 Volvo PV-544, and while it is in great condition it is more than 35 years old. That being said, it does leak a little oil, and has some signs of wear - just as you would expect on any car. I'm more than happy to take pictures of ANYTHING that you like and send them to you so you can feel confident about this automobile - just ask! On Aug-25-10 at 06:12:47 PDT, seller added the following information:As an FYI, its likely that I'll sell the car to the highest bidder, even if the reserve price is not met. Thank YouOn Aug-25-10 at 06:31:28 PDT, seller added the following information:Note: I do drive this car - though not much lately. AS a result, the mileage might go up a bit before the car is sold (though it's unlikely that it would go up by more than 100 miles..)On Aug-25-10 at 19:06:03 PDT, seller added the following information:I have several people ask some questions, so here are some answers: Rust - aside from perhaps a bit of surface rust in a spot or two (which could just be dirt I think), it is my belief that there is virtually no rust on this car. I've posted high-res photos of the door sills, parts of the underbody, and additional areas on my web account at: http://www.kittscreek.org/volvo I can take more photos and add them to that URL upon request - just let me know what part(s) of the car you want photographed. When I bought the car I was told the car was originally restored on the east coast (PA I think) using 2 separate cars - with parts being taken from each. I was told the car was acid washed (dipped?) at some point and repainted, then kept for several years before being sold. The car was then sold to someone in Oregon, where is was garaged and driven as a pleasure vehicle. I then purchased it about a year ago, and drive it only when the weather is nice. I can tell you that the engine in this car is a B18 engine, and it starts right up and runs great for me. I run it with premium unleaded fuel (the engine is set up for unleaded gas), depending on the weather and how hot it is it will sometimes diesel for a second when I turn it off. When it is cold out, I have to use the choke to get it started, but then it runs great without the choke once warm - that's standard for a car of this vintage, and is perfectly normal. The engine block has a mount point for a Bosch alternator cast into it - I also have a AC Delco conversion kit (not installed) that comes with the car. The car currently has a generator - not an alternator (also standard for this car.) This car was originally equipped with three point safety harnesses in the front seat - which are still there (they were not added after the fact - the car was sold with them) Keep in mind that item #3 is what I was told, and I have no reason to believe otherwise - nor is there evidence to the contrary. I'm providing this information in "good faith", and I'm more than happy to take additional photos and post them - or make appointments to see the vehicle. On Aug-26-10 at 04:46:12 PDT, seller added the following information:I have thousands of dollars of receipts for work performed on this vehicle (after the restore), over $13k work of done in the original restoration. A couple of other things (I went through the paperwork I have on this car last night): The miles are ORIGINAL miles. All mechanicals on this car were redone at about 66,000 miles At ~ 75000 miles a brand new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, seals, etc. were installed. The blower fan was also rebuilt and detailed Original jack and tools included 300 hours in paint and body work, all metal, done correctly, no bondo The original restoration was done by a vintage volvo specialist - but I'm not sure who
