Vehicle Detail

1965 Mercury Monterey Convertible in average condition. This car was just traded in by the retired previous owner for a truck. His wife has died and they owned this car since 1980. It was purchased in 1980 with 71,000 miles and they did most of the driving years ago. It has been garaged and driven only 1,000 miles in the last nine years. It was originally robin's egg blue but he did not like the color and had it repainted many years ago. They did rust repair on the lower quarters and front fenders that is now bubbling after several decades. Mechanical condition: Was driven in to the dealership from across town. Has not been on the open road in years, only driven locally. The tires look like new but have been on the car for many years. Garage storage has prevented weathercheck. The starter is getting weak but does start the car. The brakes seem tight. Exhaust has a little noise but not bothersome. Fuel gauge does not work. The engine was replaced with a Jasper remanufactured 390V8 in July of 2001 when the car had 99,656 miles. Warranty paper documents this mileage and date and is included. Body condition: The interior is excellent as you can see by the photos. A small eight inch tear is behind the drivers seat along a seam(in front of the rear passenger's knee). The body has bondo/rust bubbles as you can see by the photos. The bottom of the trunk has been repaired with a plate because of rust. The bumpers are dull. The convertible top has to be manually put up because the owner explained one of the top cylinders has a pinhole leak. The rear glass is completely broken out. The previous owner just left the top down all the time. The black vinyl boot is in great condition. The car is pictured exactly as it was traded in. We have not cleaned it up or vacuumed it out. It has not been offered for sale to the general public as yet. I took this car in trade as a favor to this man who recently lost his wife and did not want the car around any longer. I don't generally deal in automobiles like this and this is an opportunity for someone to buy a low volume Mercury convertible that can be driven and enjoyed without spending a fortune.
