Vehicle Detail

- 1985 Pontiac Firebird - I bought this car this spring in San Antonio, with plans to do some restoration / performance work to it. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to spend on it I thought I would, so it's time to send it on to someone who will have the time to enjoy it. This car has had an interesting history, which I've pieced together since I bought it. It started out as a stock 1985 Firebird with a 4-speed manual and the old 4-cylinder Pontiac "Iron Duke" engine. Somewhere along the line, a 350 V8 TPI from a late 80's model Camaro or Firebird was swapped into the car, and the transmission was upgraded to a Borg-Warner 5-speed. I have pictures of the car with racing paint / stickers on it, so I assume it was used on the track at some point. In the mid 2000's it was sold to a gentlemen who had it re-painted black and added the cowl hood. He later sold it to the gentlemen I bought it from. He was using it as his daily driver. I consider it a project car, although it runs and could be used as a daily driver if you needed it to be. Ideally it will go to someone who has the time to either do a full restoration or a custom performance job on it, as these really are gorgeous cars, and very difficult to find with good bodies and frames, and the rare manual transmissions. Below I will list some of the high points of the car, as well as some items the next owner will need to address. Pros - Good engine, recently rebuilt transmission, new water pump and thermostat, rebuilt power steering pump, aftermarket racing radiator, nice tires / wheels, nice paint, working power windows & doors, has a new bell housing (old one was cracked), has a new front suspension package (ball joints, tie rods, etc.) Cons - No heater or ac (was removed by a previous owner), speedometer doesn't work (I am estimating mileage at 200,000, but it could be more or less than that), some other gauges need replacement, engine needs a better cooling fan set up (right now, when you drive at highway speeds the engine cools beautifully, but in stop and go traffic it will overheat over time. After doing some research I think the issue is air movement over the radiator, the electric fans currently installed just don't get the job done. It needs a more powerful fan set-up to move more air over the radiator, I just haven't gotten around to addressing that issue) I am setting the opening bid price at $1,000, with no reserve. A $500 deposit through paypal within 24 hours of the auction close is required to secure the vehicle. Full payment must be received and the car must be picked up within 7 days of the auction close. The vehicle is located in Abilene, Texas. Buyer is responsible for all pick up / shipping arrangements. Thanks for looking, and let me know if I can answer any further questions about the vehicle. As I said earlier, this car is a great project, due to being rust free, and having the desirable and hard to find manual transmission. Good luck, and happy bidding!
