Up for auction is my 83 urq that I bought about 5 years ago with the intention of rebuilding it into a classic daily driver. Unfortunately I bit off more than I could chew and I have finally realized that I will never be able to do what I had intended. Therefore, I offer it up to you in the hopes someone else can save a big part of Audi's history. This was the car that changed the world rally scene and dominated everything else running at the time, it was their "unfair advantage". The quattro all wheel drive system proved to be the premier platform for the series and the others followed suit as fast as they could. A little about my car. It was originally Gobi Beige , a color that was unloved by many and was repainted by a previous owner to the color of choice, red. The respray was done properly and all the door jambs, inner fenders and other areas that were visible were all painted. It has seen a lot of sun an weather over the years and will need to be repainted, that and the fact I replaced the rear trunk lid and front hood with better pieces to make the body repairs easier. It had a brown leather interior that was worn, so I changed all the seats to a brown cloth that was in excellent shape from a Coupe GT, but left the leather door panels in the car. I will include the original leather seats but they do need repair to be used. The dash has it's notorious cracks that all of these early cars are plagued with, but they are not too bad. The carpet in the car is not correct, it too is from a Coupe GT and doesn't fit properly, I do have other carpets that I removed from parts cars and the original one I removed from this car, but I don't remember which are which and if iI even still have the original. In any case you will get them all to decide which to use. It has the desired Fuchs wheels and center caps that go on the car, in some pictures the car is on A4 wheels, these were just for a test drive and don't come with the car, only the Fuchs wheels come on it. It has rust. I'm not going to kid you, the car has rust, however it doesn't appear to be in areas of structural support since the car doesn't sag when jacked up from the front or rear or up on all four jackstands, all the doors operate with no binding or issues and the gaps appear equal to the spacing of the panels. The major rust is on the driver's side floor pan along the rockers. I riveted in some sheet metal along the floor and closed most of the holes, but I am not a bodyman and realize I can;t repair it properly. If you do know metal work it should be a relatively easy fix. Brakes, they don't work, I've changed 90% of the brake lines and the master cylinder and I still can't get a brake pedal. The brake bomb works fine and holds pressure as it should but I can't get a usable brake pedal which makes the car un-drivable. The 10V turbo engine runs excellent once warm, cold start it stumbles a little till warm, boost works, little to no lifter clatter as heard on most Audi 5 cylinders, tarnsmission shifts all gears, hydraulic clutch works fine but sounds like the throw bearing is making a little clicking sound.. I have included all the pics I have of the car so you can gauge it's condition for yourself. Again for the people who don't read the whole ad: It runs and drives but has no brakes, has rust, and needs to be restored. Thanks for taking the time to view my ad.
