Vehicle Detail
Late 1970's or early 1980 something (Original Manufacture Date is not Available) this MIGI kit car is on a 1972 VW Bug chasis. Kit was originally built sometime, from what I have been able to determine, in the late 1970's or early 1980's. It is a reproduction of a 1952 MGTD roadster. The MIGI was one of the first kits on the market for the 1952 MGTD look a like. Body is fiberglass, which is thicker then the newer MIGI kits were. The original VW 1600 CC engine was repalced with a MOFOCO 1835CC longblock in 1992. There are 16,000 miles on the new engine. Engine equipt with deep oil sump, high capacity oil pump and filter, electric fuel pump, Bosch "BLUE" coil and solid-state ingnition. Electrical system is 12 volt. Engine has original VW carb, but I have a Weber Two Barrel Carb and EMPI manafold kit from MOFOCO that will go with the car. Car runs great. AM/FM radio with cassette tape player. Have numorus misc. items that are included, such as: Original MIGI owners/ assembly manual, VW manual, cans of orignal MG silver color wheel spray paint, three cans of antique white body spray paint, head light aiming tool, hydralic jack, plaid car blanket, steering wheel lock bar. I built this kit car or should I say I rebuilt this kit car in 1991-1992. I purchased the body without a chasis in 1991 and installed it on a 1972 VW Type I Bug chasis. VW frame was wire brushed and treated with rust inhibitor and apinted with rustoleum paint. Floor board pans where repalced with new at that time. New gas tank. Brake master cylinder was repalced as were all the brake lines. New Heavy Duty pressure plate, clutch plate and through-out bearing installed when the engine was repalced in 1992. Has standard VW 4 speed manual transmission with short swing adapter on stick. Heater works for cool days or nights. Some spider cracks and stone chips. 4 tires are in good shape, but spare will need to be replaced as it has checking. Top and side curtains are in good shape and are the originals that came with the kit. Top has had a minner repair. Vinyl windows have some lite skuffing that could be polished out. NOTE!!! The Odometer reads 20,933 miles, but this is not accurate. I do not recall/ misplaced the original mileage that was on the VW chasis when I purchased it. Odometer reading is that which was on the odometer in the kit car body when purchased plus the 16,000 miles I have put on the car since replacing the engine and clutch, etc. Brakes need some adjusting as it pulls to the left when first applied but will straighten out when pumped. Car drives well and has been dependable on trips within the state of 400 to 500 miles round trip in the past. The vehicle is being SOLD AS IS AS SHOWN. I reserve the right to pull this item if it is sold outside of the auction prior to the cost of the auction.
