Vehicle Detail

OK, some of you may remember this car being up for auction last week, it was. I won the auction,,, YEA for me!! Well, it turns out that the car is a bit more of a project than I can handle. I was a little disapointed by the way the car was represented in the previous auction, so I will do my best to give you an accurate discription. The car is a great looker from about 20 feet. But as you get closer, the rust issues begin to sho themseleves, There is the usual bad spots around the back of the top area, the lower doors and then there are some spots around the hood. the front apron has one bad spot and the rear apron too. The pans themselves are not bad, but the heater channels are BAD! That is where I give up, I don't have the welding skills to fix it and my local VW Guru wants to chaerge around a $1000.00 and will take six weeks to get them done, I'm not that patient, so my loss, your gain. The interior is pretty nice, the top is in need of a new vinyl, but it does work. The window glass on the drivers side wing vent and the rear passenger window glass is missing, none of the glass windows regulaters work correctly and the passenger side rear window has a crack. The carpet sucks, but there is a "new" set in the hood area. The motor looks to be able to run, I will have it running by auction end. The trans seems to be fine and thebrakes need to be refurbished. The color is a coral or salmon pink, and believe it or not, it looks pretty cool when you see it in person. Hope someone out there can make this bavy purr again. On Aug-10-10 at 07:58:06 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok, I'm still a rookie when it comes to these bugs, I said the heater channels were bad, I have now been told it is not the heater channels so much as it is the outside supports that run under the frame for the convertible. I was told by my vw guru that it will be $825.00 with parts and labor to fix that part and make it right.
