userid tyroneoldman purchased this car a couple of weeks ago and backed out on the transaction. so i am listing this car again. just stating the facts. please note: This car IS inspected in VIRGINIA and can be driven until DECEMBER 2010. It has a valid inspection sticker in VIRGINIA. Once the title is transferred, you do not have to re-inspect it if you are in VIRGINIA. If you live locally, you can come and take a look - but come early in the listing. Remember - it's manual transmission - it will save you on gas money that's for sure. So - give me your BEST OFFER or buy it outright. We purchased another car and don't need this one - that's all. This vehicle is a 1986 VOLVO 740 - manual transmission. CORRECTION this is in fact a REAR wheel drive Volvo. The exterior is gray - the interior is blue (faded) - cloth seats. I do have a CLEAN TITLE. VIN #YV1FX8849G1005126 IF YOU COPY AND PASTE THE LINK BELOW INTO YOUR BROWSER YOU WILL HEAR HOW QUIET THIS CAR RUNS."http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bokyfkjveAs" It does have a sun roof and is hand crank operated to open (not electric) but the people who had the car previous to us said that it was hard to get it closed so they didn't open it. SO we just left it and did not open it either so don't know if that is the issue with it. We thought maybe the rubber seal was cracked or twisted so we caulked the seam so it would not leak. There was no evidence of it leaking but we did not want to have to bother with it so just sealed it off. The caulking can easily be removed and you can deal with it how you want. Manual transmission - shifts smoothly - however, 5th gear (overdrive) recently does not engage. The overdrive is an electronic overdrive which is NOT part of the transmission. Our mechanic says that because of that it could be a simple fix. So that may not be a big issue to fix for you. But gas mileage is still good nonetheless. Gas mileage is getting 30 mpg (without overdrive) - this car has been used reliably for a commuter car - back and forth to DC to work 110 miles round trip every day. The inspection in VIRGINIA is good until DECEMBER 2010. All new brake pads put on all around (front and back) in March 2010. Purchased in December 2009 for our son to travel to college in TN. This car has made the 1,000 mile trip (one way) a couple of times with no issues. Still going strong. It's old and it's not always pretty - but it will get you where you want to go. The back seat (at the top where the sun shines on it) is faded a funny color. May have had moisture on it at some point - but I can't figure out how it got there (on the top of the seat). The windshield and the back window do not leak - it's been in a few rain storms and we know the windows do not leak. Starts right up - the engine is quiet. This car has superior suspension - takes the bumps very well - I had back surgery in December and it really doesn't bother my back. Great visibility for a commuter car. I guess that year just had the windows the right size to see all around. The heat DOES work - the AC (air conditioning) does NOT work. Power windows all around that DO work properly. Gas gauge and odometer work properly. Fluids are all good - doesn't burn any oil or leak oil. When purchased in Dec 2009, Alternator belt was replaced, air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs. Clutch cable was repaired. Interior - seats are in GREAT shape - no tears (just the stain on the top of the back seat as mentioned). The pics make the seats look blue/green - the lighting was at the end of the day - they are just faded from the original blue color. Dash is in good shape for it's age. Knobs and dials work properly - the fan blows as it should. Headliner is excellent - may be a bit dirty (from age) but not sagging or ripped. Car locks properly - with key - electric power locks - when you lock the car with the key all locks activate on all doors and the trunk. Trunk lid stays up (by itself) when opened. Gas door is off (as shown in the pic) but we DO have the door - it just needs a spring on it to keep it on. Spare tire is in the trunk. Tires are in good shape - used daily for commute. There is a working radio - not original but it does work ok. The radio is the kind that has a removable face. Exterior condition is great - see the pics. No rust. No dents - the usual aging paint fading and may have a few scratches here and there - but for the age - it looks pretty good! :-) The mileage in the picture reads 306,235 (high miles but this car is ready to keep rolling many more miles!). By the time it is purchased there will be a about 300 more miles on it because I will be commuting with it a couple more days - then we are taking it off insurance and off the road since we purchased another car. We are selling it because we purchased another car and do not need 5 cars with 4 drivers :-) I know this is a detailed description but when I purchase things on ebay (especially vehicles) I want to know all the fine print. If we remember anything else, we'll add to the description as we think of things. PICK UP only - no deliveries or shipping of this vehicle. Deposit of half expected at the end of the auction - within 12 hours. You can bring a cashier cheque when you pick up or money order. We have the clean title for you when you get your vehicle.
