Vehicle Detail
PAGODA ROOF 250SL This is one of the most sought after models of the Mercedes Pagoda Roof SL's. This model was built during 1967 through part of 1968. This particular car shows its correct mileage at less than 60,000 miles. This car does NOT have a convertible top. I don't know why it came that way. The car can be driven and is licensed in CA. This car is NOT for the feint of heart. There is a lot of rust on this car and will require a lot of work. Someone who owns a body shop, loves this model and has the necessary skills can really salvage this car and turn it into a show piece. Unfortunately, I don't have those skills and have decided to sell it. I believe that all the parts and pieces are intact and part of the sale. There is a new electric fuel pump (not original model), new water pump, points, and condenser. As stated, it starts, runs and can be driven. The automatic transmission shifts okay but, is the typical hard shift of that era. I am putting up all the photos showing the rust on this car so that everyone knows what this car needs. If you have any questions, please ask and I will do my best to answer. On Aug-04-10 at 23:32:05 PDT, seller added the following information: All of you looking at this car should check out the listings for 250 SL's in Hemmings Motors News. There 250 SL's in similar condition with prices from about $9,000-$12,000. This is a great deal! On Aug-06-10 at 16:00:09 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had numerous requests for more photos. I have added 9 more today which is the most I can have on eBay it seems. I will be happy to email more to a bidder that requests more. The good news is that I was wrong about the interior floor pans. I did not find rust in those two areas. I have also found that the rust in the frame is only at the front of the car right behind the front bumpers and where they are mounted. The rear wheel wells do have a little rust but it is not too bad. The front wheel wells do not appear to have rust. There is minor rust within the engine compartment but it is more surface rust, not holes through the frame or metal. The really bad rust is in the trunk floor pan and the trunk rails holding the rubber seal for the trunk. The removable hardtop has a lot of rust. I hope this information helps with your decision to bid. Thank you!
