1976 Honda MT250

This is an outstanding example of a 1976 Honda MT250 Elsinore. This is the road going version of the famous Honda CR250 Elsinore motocross race bike. These Honda Enduros or “dual sport” bikes were made for only about three years and are very hard to find in this nearly “show quality” condition. This is a 250cc two stroke single cylinder with oil injection. I’ve had this bike for a couple of years. I acquired this MT250 from a very fussy collector of Honda road bikes; it didn’t really suit his collection so I was able to purchase it. Condition of this Honda is superb both cosmetically and mechanically. The bike has 2680 miles on it, has no issues and needs nothing. The fuel tank has been replaced and repainted by the previous owner because the original tank had some flaws. I was told it took him almost two years to find a perfect dent free tank. This tank is beautiful show quality without question. The exhaust pipe and muffler were also refinished in “high temp” powder coat and are perfect. The rest of the bike is original and in outstanding condition. The previous owner also had the top end of the engine redone, including a new bore, piston, rings and gaskets. There are less than 100 miles on this engine and it runs flawlessly. The carb was also rebuilt with new needle and seat and gaskets with genuine Honda parts. New points and fork seals with an oil change were also done at that time for a complete tune up and all work was performed by the Honda dealer. This bike runs shifts and drives perfectly; it also starts easily with one or two kicks on choke and idles perfectly. Tires and tubes are brand new in the correct tread pattern and sizes. The fenders show some slight, superficial scratches from age but are near perfect. The petcock is rebuilt with all new parts and there are no leaks whatsoever. Chain is new and sprockets are excellent with no wear showing. This Honda also comes with the original owners manual and a “like new” complete original tool kit. All accessories, lights, horn and turn signals work perfectly. All controls, brakes and clutch are in perfect working order. Please look at the pictures carefully, I have included many. As you can see this is an extremely clean, correct example but keep in mind it is 34 years old and shows some very slight wear. I take very seriously that my descriptions are accurate as you can see from my feedback. This machine has received great care through its life and it shows. I doubt that it has ever been off road. It certainly has not since I’ve owned it (it’s hardly been on road). I have a clear Minnesota title for this vehicle.
