Vehicle Detail
1974 ROKON 340 MX VERY RARE…1 OF 335 MADE AHRMA VINTAGE MOTOCROSS Offered for sale here is a super rare factory original Rokon MX bike. Built in Keene, New Hampshire these bikes were made in very limited numbers, approximately 335 total. Most Rokons made were of the much more common RT Enduro type variety. These were unusual back in the day, but I can tell you from experience that they won plenty of races. Almost a guaranteed holeshot! These American made dirt bikes came with a 335cc Sachs racing snowmobile motor hooked up to a Salisbury torque converter for a truly automatic transmission. Just twist it and go. Rated at 37 horsepower, these bikes put it all to the ground with very little wheelspin. Along with being the only automatic dirt bikes, they also came with disc brakes about 8 years before any Japanese bikes did. If all this isn’t enough for you, then just check out the pullstart! This bike retains most of its original items: Preston Petty fenders, original sprockets, original Carlisle front tire, (back has been replaced), original Koni shocks, Betor forks, etc. The seat, tank and most other components are still in excellent shape. A couple of very rare options on this bike are the aluminum torque converter cover (most were steel) and the factory skid plate. Overall condition of the bike is very nice. I would say that this example has few miles on it, and has probably spent more time garaged then anything. I have had this one along with 4 others in my garage for years, and it is time to start parting with them. Bike has excellent spark and compression, I see no reason why it should not run with maybe a quick carb clean and some fresh gas. When I bought this bike it was a runner along with most of my others, but my dreams of a vintage “Factory Rokon Racing Effort” are fading fast. Need some room in the garage, some money in the pocket. As stated, this bike is in very nice shape. With that being said, it is sold without warranty expressed or implied. It could stand some further detailing, and with little work should run. Rear brake needs some work, pads and possibly a rebuilt caliper. The previous owner did some light resto work, paint and such but I know that most every original component minus the rear tire is there. If you truly want a rare vintage motocrosser this is the bike for you. Honda Elsinores…thousands made. 1974 YZ’s…a few thousand made. There were less than 350 of these produced, how many exist today? Show up at the AHRMA sportsman starting line on something truly different! This bike is being offered with a very reasonable reserve. Bike is being sold with a bill of sale only. Has not been titled in years. Please…check my feedback and bid with confidence. Look the pictures over carefully they should give you a pretty good idea of the condition. I will be happy to work with your shipper, or sell locally. If you want to go the Forward Air route, I am about 75 miles from SFO and will gladly deliver there with 4 tie downs and padlocks for $100 extra. Good luck and happy bidding!
