1955 MG TF 1500 Roadster 2-Owner California Car, 51k Original Miles ......please be patient while the many photos load..... 1955 MG TF for sale, the last year and the lowest production and rarest "TF" produced. Purchased new in Pasadena by it's first owner and used lightly until sold to the second owner in 1969. It was used for one school year to commute from Pasadena to UCLA (about 60 miles round trip). Her father decided she needed a bigger car for that daily commute and the MG was put into storage in 1970 for the next dozen or so years. In the early 80's she was married and her husband decided to freshen the car up for her to enjoy. The car was taken apart, repainted in it's original red, reupholstered and gone through mechanically. Shortly after completion in around 1983 they divorced and the car was again left in her parents garage except for her father taking it on periodic spins through the neighborhood into the early 90's. Since then it has been stored. When I went to look at the car we opened up this dark garage and pulled back the dusty cover to find this little jewel hiding away. We brought the car to Orange County and prepared for a proper cold start. Luckily when it was put into storage the tank was drained. After soaking the cylinders in oil and making a few adjustments to the points, timing and carburetors it started right up. It starts; runs and drives nicely. The oil pressure is well above average and the gearbox is nice and tight. It now is detailed and looks fantastic. Over the coming days we will be changing the belt and hoses and making a few final adjustments. The car has some great attributes, original black California license plate, a beautiful straight body with very nice paint, good chrome (though there is some pitting on the bumpers) and a super healthy low-mile original numbers matching engine with rare aluminum valve cover. The carpet, door panels and dash are very nice. The top is cloth and the rear window is clear and pliable. The top frame is in excellent condition as well. The previous owner has stated that the odometer was working until her husband took the car apart to paint. It hasn't worked since but it also has only been driven a handful of times in their neighborhood since the restoration was completed. Therefore it is believed that the miles are very close to being correct. There were only 1,460 "TF"-1500's produced in 1955. This is one of the few left. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of the auction close. The remaining balance is due within 72 hours of the close of auction, unless other arrangements were made. Accepted payment methods are bank wire transfers, cashier's checks and money orders. If you wish to obtain financing, please do so ahead of time. We reserve the right to end the auction early.
