Vehicle Detail
I had purchased this car at an Estate sale several months ago with the highest hopes, dreams and goals for it. Now after it sitting in my way for a few months I have also realized I do not have the time for finances to take on yet another project. Its time to cut this one free and send it on to a greater home, where it will get the love and attention that it needs. The '74 Celica GT was purchased new here in Fairmont WV at our local Toyota Dealership (Penn Auto). The original owners had it as a pleasure car for years and obviously driving it very little. The original owners son had taken the car out once and had an accident, ran the car into a ditch on the driver side. The car sat for years wrecked in their garage. From there the 2nd owner and his wife purchased the car. It was the wife's favorite car, so the man repaired the car and they kept it for years also. Once they had both passed away their daughter auctioned everything off. That is how I ended up opportunity to own this car. The 2nd owners only had the car legal on the road for one year (1996) it has been sitting in their garage since, and now in mine. The car is in amazing condition for its age, there some signs of age but not many. There is not a spot of rust on this car that I could find. I believe the tires are still the original bias ply tires, and they still have tubes in them, they are not even dry rotted. The carpet, seats, dash, headliner and interior is all in great shape. The trim along the driver door seat is a little rough, and shifter boot has deteriorated some over the years. The doors, hood and trunk still open as nice as a new car if not even better. As far as the BAD goes... The car was repainted when it was repaired and it is not quite as high quality as I would like it to be for myself. The bodywork where the Driver fender and door meet really needs to be redone correctly, as it looks a little rough there. The Carburetor is in BAD shape. It really needs to be replaced with a new Weber ($300). The Carb does not look to be the original one anyhow. The muffler is rotting out from sitting for so many years, and really needs to be replaced. The Driver side quarter panel window seems to be off track and needs some attention. And for the GOOD.... If your looking for a NICE clean first Gen Celica, I don't know that you will find one nicer. It does need a little work, but so much of this car is like new that its crazy. Tires, Brake lines, belts and hoses show no sign of dry rotting, suspension is smoother than my new car. Here is a link to my Photobucket site that has quite a number of pics on it. http://s826.photobucket.com/albums/zz181/Kuneff/1974%20Celica%20GT/ If you have any questions please contact me, and I will answer them to the best of my ability. If you want to come look at the car, that would be great. I will help in any way I possibly can. Email or call me 304-365-1923
