1965 Shelby GT-350 Tribute!!! Here is an absolutely beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback that has been converted into the iconic Shelby GT-350!!! This gorgeous fastback was restored in the early 2000s to look, feel and drive like Carroll Shelbys legendary GT-350. This car has a host of Shelby goodies. It has lower traction bars, an estimated 306 hp, 4 speed transmission, disc brakes, larger sway bar, Shelby control arms, Shelby tach, Shelby quarter windows, Shelby R-model front bumper, competition seatbelts, Cobra valve covers, larger Aluminum Cobra oil pan, Shelby style steering wheel... The list goes on and on. This Mustang was gone through with a fine tooth comb during its restoration and it has since little use since. The car overall has a nice patina on it and overall the car is in great shape. This is a fantastic way to experience a true GT-350 but at a fraction of the price. This isnt just a Mustang with stripes and a scoop. You can see, feel and hear the difference in this car. This car gives you that unexplainable feeling when driving it that just absolutely hooks you. Many of us own classic cars because they are unique cars and the have character unlike todays modern cars. I usually shy away from tribute cars, but this car just has "it." It pushes all the right buttons and excites all of your senses. This is a solid rust free car that was very well built and it is obvious from first turn of the key. This Mustang is in great shape and it will serve its new owner for years to come. This is a great collectible classic that is surely to appreciate in value over the next several years!!! Click to enlarge Exterior: This Mustang looks the part with its R Model front bumper, Shelby side scoops, Shelby Windows, and Shelby hood all finished over the classic Shelby color scheme, Wimbledon White over Guardsman Blue stripes. The car was painted to a very high standard and looks excellent given its age. When the car was painted, it was done properly. There are no cut corners that are shinning through the body work (something that often plagues cars with fresh paintjobs... they look great for a year... and then all the ugliness starts poking through). The car was completed in the early 2000s and has been seldom driven giving the car a nice overall patina. The undercarriage of this car is nice and clean it appears to have its original floor pans as well as its original quarters. The chrome, bright work, grill, badges etc... are all in excellent condition. This is a car that you could bring to a car show and show it with pride, or you could go on great long weekend drives in. Overall the exterior is in great shape. Click to enlarge Interior: The interior of this classic pony car is like new and in excellent condition. The front and rear seats are in great shape. The carpet is like new as well and free of stains etc... This fastback features fold down rear seats which gives you the ability to carry extra passengers, but when folded away give it the race car look. The headliner and door panels are also new and finish the car beautifully. The interior carries on the Shelby theme with a Shelby correct tach as well as that great looking, and feeling wood steering wheel. This car like the original Shelby, has a radio delete panel. To retain the classic look a modern radio could be added either under the dash or in the glove box. Overall the interior of this car is beautiful and is a great place to waste the weekend away. Click to enlarge Engine: The 289ci V8 fires right up and runs like a top. The car blows no smoke on start up or while driving. The engine was rebuilt at the time of restoration and has few miles on it. During the rebuild, concentration was spent on making the engine have the same performance as the GT-350. This was achieved through upgrading the cam, roller rockers, cobra mid-rise intake manifold, tubular headers all exhaling through the Shelby style side exit exhaust. This engine really runs strong and makes PLENTY of power. It makes all the right noises and drives great. The engine has been treated to a set of the classic Cobra valve covers as well as the larger more performance oriented aluminum cobra oil pan!!! This is not a cheap item!!! The 4 speed transmission shifts great and goes through all of the gears just as it should. It was also gone through at the time of restoration. The car runs nice and cool even in Arizonas hot and dry climate. The brakes have recently been gone through and the car stops nice and straight. The disc brakes really help slow this car down in a hurry. The brakes also have the correct proportioning valve as well as the larger master cylinder just the way Carroll Shelby intended. The steering can often be a low point on a classic Mustang with lots of play in the steering wheel, NOT SO WITH THIS CAR!!! The car has a great steering feel which is very responsive and communicative with no play or slop in the steering. The suspension has been upgraded to Shelby specs. and the car handles great. This Mustang features the larger sway bar, Shelby control arms as well as the rear traction bars to help it ride and handle like a GT-350. The undercarriage of this car is nice and clean it appears to have its original floor pans as well as its original quarters. This is a great cruiser with LOTS of power. I havent had so much fun and pleasure driving a classic car in a long time. This really is a great car to spend time in! Its absolutely addicting.
