This is a fine example of that classic of coupes, the 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe. The car had a body off restoration at LimeWorks Speedshop completed some 6 years ago, due to a knee replacement the owner is forced to sell the car, it has been driven very little since completion due to the bad knee , as it is a stick shift he was unable to drive it. The car started out as a perfect coupe, with great body & fenders, we replaced the floor in part , the whole car was media blasted & repaired where necessary. I have searched our archives but can only find the one shot of the chassis as it left for the body shop. All the frame was sandblasted & powder coated along with all the running gear. the axles etc are stock , rebuilt as is the steering box. The engine was freshened up too. The brakes were rebuilt using new drums to replace the old worn out ones. The car runs a 2 barrel holley carb & the only other mods are 12 volt system with alternator & a Vintage Air System that blows cold. The A/C controls are under the dash & the ducts are in the stock flip up ash trays & behind the speaker grill in the center of the dash. The Stock Upholstery is in great condition but the seat shows some fade where the seat belts have sat !!! All the tires are as new , the rubber running boards are showing some sun damage but the paint is still lovely. The car was painted by 40 Ford Specialist John Hesford at Brea Auto Restoration. The Upholstery was done at Collins Auto Upholstery in Whittier, the trunk is done in black carpet. All the wiring is new as is a lot of the chrome , the car has the original Deluxe trim on the wheels & looks cool. The car drives great & is the best 40 Ford we have had the pleasure to build.
