Low mileage and original owner! NEEDS 1 MAJOR REPAIR -- read on for detailed information. I bought this car brand new in September 2000 for $40,000. I have had it dealer serviced and after the warranty expired, I had a local Volvo specialist (Hubbard Woods Motors in Winnetka, IL) service the car. I have a stack of service records that go with the car as well as the original window sticker, sales brochures, owner’s manual, etc. Here’s the kicker: the car needs a valve body transmission repair which will cost $2200. The valve body is the electronic shifting brain for the transmission. From what I understand this was a common problem on these cars. I own 5 cars and only live 3 miles from work – I’ve just decided to not pony up for this repair. Someone will get a good car at very low price + one major repair and still come in way below value (see below). The car is absolutely LOADED: Leather, power seats, windows, locks, cruise, steering wheel controls, sunroof, CD, low pressure turbo engine 2.4L, 5-cyl, low pressure turbo 197-horsepower, 5-spd automatic-GearTronic shifter, 3 row seat in the “way back” for the kids, front and rear airbags, ABS, AWD traction control, heated seats, dual zone climate control, fold flat rear seats, cargo cover and divider, roof rails, two sets of floor mats (summer and winter). Too much more to list. The car has a couple of dings on the rear doors (see pictures) and few other MINOR imperfections typical to suburban, family use. It still cleans up nicely, but it ain’t perfect. This wagon has been a great family car for shuttling kids, road trips, and tons of space for weekend chores. This would make a great second car for you or teenage drivers. Great in the snow and rain. I always felt very safe driving this car and loved its 4-season, all-purpose utility. The car is sold as-is.
