The owner passed away last November and we purchased many of his cars. This car was in his family since new, still having its original 1965 Texas plate. It was placed in storage in the early 1990's and had not seen the light of day until last month. Some of his other cars will be listed soon, so keep watching for them. OK, here we go … The decision was made to bring the car to our shop and have it brought back to life correctly. All of the brakes were removed and rebuilt. The rubber lines were replaced, the master cylinder was sleeved and rebuilt, the linings and pads were replaced and the bearings packed, then the system was filled with silicone dot 5 and bled. She now stops on a dime. The plugs were removed and cylinders oiled then turned by hand. That’s when we noticed the red motor -- it looks like a rebuilt. We changed the oil and did a full tune up: plugs, wires, points, condenser, etc., etc. The tank was removed and sent to Tank Renew. The rubber lines were replaced, the lines were cleaned, the fuel pump was rebuilt and filter replaced, then the carb was rebuilt. SHE PURRS LIKE A NEW CAR, Then the back half of the exhaust was replaced, and she’s nice and quiet. When we started her up, she ran like she was shut off just yesterday. NOW THE BODY -- this is the most rust free one of these we have ever owned! With the exception of a small spot behind the rear doors SHE IS RUST FREE with perfect [a word I almost never use] floors, trunk, rockers, and sheet metal. NO RUST AT ALL. When we pulled the tank we saw that the floors still have factory red primer, as do the rear frame rails. When you open the doors the factory paint and weather-stripping is still nice [when was the last time you opened the door on an old car and found EVERTHING painted body color!] We installed a good set of tires and off we went down the road. She shifted well with nice firm shifts. The motor sound great, no odd noises. The front end is a little loose, but she weighs 6200 lbs. The top is original and is very nice. There are 2 small stains but you really have to look for them. The back window is slightly discolored but folds fine. The top work perfectly every time. Now here’s something KOOL -- the inside of the trunk is MINT, with all carpets in place and the jack never out of it space. Just look at the trunk pics. The paint is usable but thin in spots. The trunk has little blisters on it. The right corner of the hood is slightly bent - see pics. The interior took the worst of it. The door handles have pitting, the leather looks good for its age, the carpets have small stains but all in all very presentable. OK more kool stuff: power BUCKET seats with center console, TILT steering wheel, power locks, air conditioning, power wing windows, am/ fm radio, power antenna. Here is what does not work now: the power locks don’t move, the blower motor does not come on but when you move the lever to a/c the compressor does come on, the radio only makes noise, the power antenna does not go up, And here’s what DOES work: the passenger side windows all work well, the driver’s window works well, the wing and rear windows have worked sometimes, all gauges and lights work well including the low fuel light, speedometer works well, the interior lights come on when the door is opened, THE TOP WORKS PERFECT. So what we have here is a running, driving rust free car that still needs attention to the little things. There are approx. 70 pics -- please look at them all. PLEASE CALL WITH ANY ??????? From the estate of a prominent collector in Denton, Texas. The owner passed away last November and we purchased many of his cars. This car was in his family since new, still having its original 1965 Texas plate. It was placed in storage in the early 1990's and had not seen the light of day until last month. Some of his other cars will be listed soon, so keep watching for them.
OK, here we go … The decision was made to bring the car to our shop and have it brought back to life correctly.
All of the brakes were removed and rebuilt. The rubber lines were replaced, the master cylinder was sleeved and rebuilt, the linings and pads were replaced and the bearings packed, then the system was filled with silicone dot 5 and bled. She now stops on a dime.
The plugs were removed and cylinders oiled then turned by hand. That’s when we noticed the red motor -- it looks like a rebuilt. We changed the oil and did a full tune up: plugs, wires, points, condenser, etc., etc.
The tank was removed and sent to Tank Renew. The rubber lines were replaced, the lines were cleaned, the fuel pump was rebuilt and filter replaced, then the carb was rebuilt. SHE PURRS LIKE A NEW CAR,
Then the back half of the exhaust was replaced, and she’s nice and quiet.
When we started her up, she ran like she was shut off just yesterday.
NOW THE BODY -- this is the most rust free one of these we have ever owned! With the exception of a small spot behind the rear doors SHE IS RUST FREE with perfect [a word I almost never use] floors, trunk, rockers, and sheet metal. NO RUST AT ALL. When we pulled the tank we saw that the floors still have factory red primer, as do the rear frame rails. When you open the doors the factory paint and weather-stripping is still nice [when was the last time you opened the door on an old car and found EVERTHING painted body color!]
We installed a good set of tires and off we went down the road. She shifted well with nice firm shifts. The motor sound great, no odd noises. The front end is a little loose, but she weighs 6200 lbs.
The top is original and is very nice. There are 2 small stains but you really have to look for them. The back window is slightly discolored but folds fine. The top work perfectly every time. Now here’s something KOOL -- the inside of the trunk is MINT, with all carpets in place and the jack never out of it space. Just look at the trunk pics.
The paint is usable but thin in spots. The trunk has little blisters on it. The right corner of the hood is slightly bent - see pics.
The interior took the worst of it. The door handles have pitting, the leather looks good for its age, the carpets have small stains but all in all very presentable.
OK more kool stuff: power BUCKET seats with center console, TILT steering wheel, power locks, air conditioning, power wing windows, am/ fm radio, power antenna.
Here is what does not work now: the power locks don’t move, the blower motor does not come on but when you move the lever to a/c the compressor does come on, the radio only makes noise, the power antenna does not go up,
And here’s what DOES work: the passenger side windows all work well, the driver’s window works well, the wing and rear windows have worked sometimes, all gauges and lights work well including the low fuel light, speedometer works well, the interior lights come on when the door is opened, THE TOP WORKS PERFECT.
So what we have here is a running, driving rust free car that still needs attention to the little things. There are approx. 70 pics -- please look at them all.
