I bought this car a little over a year ago from the original owner's son in Dallas Texas with the idea of restoring it. Things have changed since I purchased it and I'm in the middle of restoring a 1970 Mustang Convertible so I have decided to sell the Cougar. The original owner purchased this car new for $13580.00 from Frank Jackson Lincoln - Mercury in Atlanta Ga. Owner later moved to Dallas Tx. to be near his son. Original window sticker is still with the car as well as the 1985 Mercury Cougar Owners Guide & Operating Guide. Being a southern car since new the body is in great condition. ( It has never been driven on Iowa's winter salty roads ) You would be hard pressed to find one in nicer condition. Check out my pictures. Problems: The transmission slips and needs the bands tighten. The car is drivable but does not shift properly out on the open road. You will need to haul/transport it if purchased. Also the passengers door handle is loose and needs repaired. While leather has the uppity reputation for being expensive and luxurious, this cars high-quality vinyl, or its uppity name “Imitation Leather”, is very comparable to leather in looks, feel and durability.
