Vehicle Detail
1969 Pontiac GTO If you've been searching for that perfect GTO to restore, than here it is! This is a 1969 triple black hideaway headlight 4 speed GTO that will take just about anything on the street. This car is not for the timid, and whenever you fire this Goat up, you're in for an adrenaline rush. You really need to know how to drive a race car if you want to place yourself in the drivers seat. It is with much regret that I have to sell this car. I've only owned it for a couple years, and this was one I intended on taking to my grave, so here's your chance to pick up a sweet deal on a "No Reserve" auction. I've had very good success selling cars on Ebay with many satisfied buyers, but some buyers spend too much time watching the live auctions on the Speed channel. They feel that they deserve a Barrett-Jackson museum piece for dimes on the dollar. I always try to make my buyers happy with their purchase. I'm selling this GTO without being restored. I'll leave that up to the next owner, so I won't have to listen to any complaints with my restoration. Cars like this don't come around very often, so bid to win! Here's what I know about this GTO. The last owner had this car for over 20 years, and never used it on the street. It had been stored for over a decade before I received it. It was only used at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, Wisconsin. He believed that the mileage is original, and he put less than 2,000 miles on the car the entire time of his ownership. He was going through a divorce and his GTO was the only property his wife didn't take. Lucky me, only I must part with it, so lucky you to whoever wins this auction. Bid now and bid often!! Anyways, This car is insanely fast! I found one of the quarter mile receipts in the glove box from 04/24/94. This GTO was documented at 12.719 at 107.680 mph in the 1st run, and a winning time of 11.065 at 121.845 in the 2nd run. That's not far off from a 10 second car! This frame was not all cut up for racing. It seems to maintain all of its original form. He stated that this baby will do wheelies at ease. The previous owner had good judgment, and pulled the original block when he got the car before he decided to use it at the strip. The original 400 numbers matching block will be included with this sale. I was told the engine in this car is a professionally built 1970 Pontiac 455. This GTO has an Edelbrock Performer RPM Hi-Rise Aluminum intake manifold with a Holley 750 double pumper 4 barrel carburator. There is some type of special braking system set-up to shut down this car quickly at high speeds. A four core radiator was installed for maximum cooling. Almost everything on this car is either high performance or heavy duty. The prior owner told me that the entire clutch assembly is high performance to get the most power out of the M22 Rockcrusher transmission. There is a special trans cooling canister mounted to the inside header panel with braided hoses to keep the Rockcrusher working properly. There is an MSD Ignition unit with Multiple Spark Discharge, and a Mallory Promaster coil for maximum spark. It looks like some type of electric fuel pump system is in place. The single time I drove this car was two miles to my home on the date of purchase. It was a ride I will always remember. I gambled with no license plates, and every window on every house was rattling along the way. What a car! It runs with open headers, and one muffler on the passenger side that ends under the seat. This GTO has a 10 bolt posi-traction rear-end with I'm assuming a 411 gear. This interior is in relatively good condition with the factory AM radio. The headliner is in great condition with the original seat belts on the sides. The drivers bucket seat has some wear, but the passenger bucket seat is pretty nice, and the rear seat is still very good. The console is in good condition with the Hurst T-handle that has the red button with line lock to smoke the tires properly standing still. The dash pad has several cracks, but the dashboard is in relatively good condition, and was never cut up like most of the cars from that era. The steering column has an MSD shift light attached to show the exact moment to shift gears. This GTO has the factory in-dash tachometer, and the rally gauges. This body still looks good, and comes with a full replacement quarter panel for the left rear. That panel will be included in the auction, but everything on this car can be re-used in the restoration in my opinion. The original trunk lip and trunk are in good condition and the remainder of the car is basically in the same condition. There was some minimal bodywork done around the rear wheel wells, but that would need to be redone. The entire body still shows very well for being 41 years old. As you can see from the pictures, I do have a pair of Mickey Thompson ET Drag tires on Pontiac rally wheels. Those will not be included in this sale unless this GTO sells for the right money. I will negotiate through my messages if anyone is really interested in them. A great deal of money went into making this incredible GTO. This car is being sold with a Bill of Sale only. A title is not needed if this car will only be used at the track, but to make the car legal for the street the new owner will need to apply for a title on his own. I realize that will minimize the amount of potential buyers, but I will explain about the options available. For dealers a replacement title is not a problem, however private owners will need to apply to the Secretary of State. They can also use Broadway Title Service which is available on-line. The previous owner had misplaced the title or his ex-wife made it disappear. The day after the purchase we went to the DMV for him to sign over power of attorney, but the car had not been registered in so long that it was removed from the system. It must be researched through the archives at the state capitol. They gave me the necessary paperwork to obtain the original title from Madison, Wisconsin, but the car must go now. I will pass along all the information I have to obtain the title through the proper channels if the new owner needs that as an option. I still have the former owners name and signature on the forms. I know he purchased a mobile home on the outskirts of town with the money he received from this sale, so he shouldn't be too hard to locate for assistance. I even have the original front license plate from when he initially registered the car in his name. It shouldn't be too hard to obtain an original title to make the car street legal. This way it can be driven to the track, or be restored back to its former glory. This GTO is extremely valuable when restored. This is a prime opportunity to take advantage of a true muscle car investment. I will locate any numbers that I can find on this car for the people who ask me where to look. I try to list everything I can think of when I write a description, but if there is anything you might like to know please ask. I pride myself in answering every question in detail with the utmost honesty. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!
