Vehicle Detail
1967 Pontiac GTO This is a 1967 Pontiac GTO that was originally Tyrol Blue. The hottest color for a 67 Goat in my eyes. It had only one repaint in dark blue that has peeled off showing the original paint, and down to the original primer in some spots. I was always meaning to restore this car back to its former glory, but times change and I am offering this sweet GTO at no reserve. I have had a lot of good luck selling cars on Ebay with many satisfied buyers, but some buyers expect a Barrett-Jackson museum piece for dimes on the dollar. They are usually buyers who know nothing about muscle cars, and I know anyone interested in this car is a serious muscle car guy. That's why I'm not bothering to restore this car. I'd rather have a buyer happy and let them restore this car themselves. The restoration will be completely up to the new owner. This is close to the exact condition of this GTO when I purchased it 5 years ago except for the air cleaner, and the Pontiac 15" chrome Rally wheels with the B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A's. This car basically needs a complete restoration, but what an awesome car to start with. This GTO never got molested like the majority of cars from the 60's. I purchased it from a GTO expert just outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He stated the the engine was the original numbers matching 400, and this baby has a 4 speed. It has the original AM radio, and the factory in-dash tachometer. The tag is still on the 10 bolt rear-end, but I am unaware of the gear ratio. I never got to enjoy this car for one moment, and the last time the engine was started was the day it was purchased. The engine ran strong with no ticks, but in all these years I never played with the car, since I was always involved with other cars. I will gladly check any numbers that I can find on the car for those who tell me where to look. Any information that I find out will be posted during the auction. It's getting very hard to find these type of complete cars. All the chrome and trim is intact, and I do have some 67 lower stainless steel trim. Somewhere along the line someone must have placed 66 GTO trim on the rockers. I also have a used set of four stainless steel wheel well opening moldings. The entire interior is in fairly good condition. The front drivers seat has some minor wear, but the passenger front bucket seat is in good condition, as well as the rear seat. There are some cracks in the dash, so I purchased a replacement dash pad that is included with the sale. This car was in the GTO Association Of America some years back, and the GTO shag carpet on the rear deck of the back window is included in the auction. LOL!! The headliner is still in good shape, but could use one small patch. All the glass seems to be in nice original condition. I did not see any chips in the windshield. As you can see from the pictures, this car still looks very straight and solid. I couldn't spot any door dings or dents on the sides that were notorious on these cars. I took as many pictures as I could to accurately display all views of the car. As you can see from those pictures the rockers are still nice and all the panels still line up well. I did not see any evidence of this car ever being in an accident. I believe the floors are still solid, but I would replace the trunk pan, although the trunk lip is still nice. The frame seems to be straight and in good shape with just normal scaling. Anyone is welcome to arrange a time to view the car prior to the end of the auction. This car was stored for many years and I was told that the mileage is original. I have the open and clear title in my name. I try to list everything as accurately as possible when listing a description, but if there is anything you might like to know, please ask. I pride myself in answering every question in detail with the utmost honesty. Thank You for looking, and Happy Bidding!! On Jul-08-10 at 22:02:54 PDT, seller added the following information: The numbers on the engine in the passenger front read 164806, and under that it has the letters WT. The data plate reads as follows: 04A1 on the top left, and the line underneath reads ST 67-24217 PON 17419 BODY under that line reads TR 223-B, and next to that reads F-F PAINT. The lower left of the data plate reads W 2LGR, and the lower right reads 22-23. Above the exhaust manifold on the passenger side reads 670, and under that it reads K277. On the drivers side it says the same thing 670, and under that on the exhaust manifold it reads K 137. If there is anyone who could send me a message to decipher these codes, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much! Dave
