Vehicle Detail
Offered for your consideration is a 1931 Ford Model A "Slant Windshield" Town Sedan with an indented firewall. This classic beauty is offered in the correct Ford colors of the era of Elkpoint and Kewanee Green with a mohair interior and sitting on apple green wire wheels and finished with an apple green pinstripe. The Slant Windshield was produced for only a short time in the last six months of Model A production. It is considered by many collectors as a rare and desirable automobile. A little history: This car had been sold to a collector as part of an estate sale with a group of other cars. He had little interest in the Model A and it was put in the corner of his garage and there it sat - not been used and not being repaired. It was obvious that it had been somewhat neglected in the recent past. When I bought the car I turned it over to a very knowledgeable Model A collector and mechanic who set out to repair the car correctly and get it back on the road. Here is just a partial list of what was done to the car during the two months he worked on the it: Radiator flushed, tested and refilled. New motometer with temp indicator installed. All other fluids (oil, trans & rear) drained and refilled. Complete tune up. New and/or rebuilt carburetor, generator, ampmeter, starter, coil, distributor and leakless water pump installed. Engine cleaned, degreased and painted. All wiring inspected and replaced as necessary. New dash panel. New battery, battery box and cables installed. New fuse assembly. Rear dismantled, checked and rebuilt. New rear axle shaft and seals installed. Front brakes checked, serviced and adjusted. All new rear brakes (including emergency) installed and adjusted. Wheels and bearings checked, cleaned and properly greased. New steering box installed. New float-a-motor kit installed replacing the old tired motor mounts. Interior steam cleaned. New carpet, new cowl panels and window channels (two front doors) installed. And I am sure there are a couple of more minor items that were done. I will provide invoices to the new owner for all the work that was performed. All in all, the work that was done was over $5,000 for parts and labor. And it was all the hard stuff. The car received everything it needed and then some. No corners were cut and any area that needed attention and repair got it. There is little left to do but drive and enjoy the car. All this work was performed this spring and the car has less than 100 miles on it since the work as finished. However, in the spirit of "full disclosure" I must admit that the paint looks better in the pictures that it does in person. I guess you could say the paint, although presentable, is tired. If you are looking for a 100 point show car this is probably not the car for you. The paint is driver quality (with flaws) and it would require a paint job to upgrade it to showroom condition. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding. Bottom line - if you are looking for a mechanically sound car to enjoy today and maybe spruce it up (paint wise) down the road, this classic Model A may be worthy of your consideration. This car is being sold AS-IS with no warranty expressed or implied. All sales are final. The true mileage is unknown. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Seller is not responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness or defects and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account on any vehicle incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions and/or representations are for indentification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle and to have satisfied himself/herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment alone. The seller will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defect associated with this vehicle at the bidders request prior to the close of the sale. This vehicle is available for a personal inspection by appointment and I strongly suggest that an inspection is performed prior to bidding. With all that being said, I think you can see from the pictures the car is in terrific shape. Items like the lights, horn, windshield wiper, gas gauge all work fine. For safety the car has working turn signals. Its a car you and your family should be able to start enjoying the day it arrives in your driveway. And hopefully enjoy for many years to come. I am happy to answer any and all questions. I am happy to assist with shipping but the arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. Thanks for looking and good luck.
