This is a very collectable sought after vehicle. An outstanding vintage automobile. In 1971 Volvo introduced the new version of their very successful P1800. In 1972 the 1800E was released a more powerful injected vehicle. The styling of the 1800E was second to none. This car was brought to celebrity status by (James Bond) Roger Moore In the television show Return of the Saints. This show made this vehicle become an Icon. The P1800 was a vehicle like no other Volvo. Volvo known for building safe, boxy and large vehicles. The P1800 was a true departure from the norm...This car is sporty, quick and extremely stylish. Volvo tried for years to get the styling Q's right and failed until the P1800 came along. This vehicle was designed by Pelle, Helmer Patterson's son. Helmer was the person who was tasked to come up with an all new design in a sports car for Volvo. He went to many Italian firms for the design of this car. These firms produced four different styles and Helmer's son Pelle designed and created what he felt the car should be and that was the design choosen by Volvo. This become the Volvo P1800. Pelle followed the car through till it was in actual production. In late 1971 Volvo added the E so the vehicle became the P1800E. The P1800E has a larger engine producing 30 more horsepower and fuel injection. A much more refined vehicle. The car was actually built for Volvo by Pressed Steel and assembled by a factory named Jensen. At the time Volvo did not have the facility to produce the P1800 so they subbed the vehicle out under their watchful eye. A timeless design that has never been duplicated. A Italian style with Swedish reliability and quality. A unbelievable automobile. A true piece of history. This vehicle at the time became very popular and much of this is due to it being very affordable, stylish and the push of television series with Roger Moore bringing this vehicle into every household by television. even though such a departure from the typical Volvo this is the vehicle that put Volvo on the map. This particular vehicle is an excellent specimen of a very well taken care of vehicle. Powered by a 4cyl 1986cc overhead cam B20B cast iron engine producing 130hp with solid lifters, and bosch electronic fuel injection. A very quick, fun car to drive. This vehicle runs, drives and handles excellent. There are no shakes, shimmy or vibrations at all. You will be quite pleased. The engine is smooth and has a sound all of it's very own. A awesome running vehicle. The transmission is an automatic. Only 1865 of these vehicles were equipped with the automatic 3 speed transmission. A smooth and firm shifting without hesitation automatic transmission. A great all around vehicle that you will be sure to enjoy. The all tan interior is in very nice condition with no signs of wear or tear. The dash, headliner, carpet and trim all look great. A very well kept and taken care of vehicle. This vehicle is extremely comfortable with plenty of leg room. The back seat is not large but is great for storage or children. This vehicle is equipped with what they call the 2+2 option. Of these 1865 vehicles very few were equipped with the automatic transmission. The spare is an actual Factory alloy rim. The spare with cover, tools and jack are all in place.
