Vehicle Detail
This is a teriffic 1998 Lincoln Towncar Limo with 120" stretch Krystal conversion. It seats 8 comfortably in the back, and accommodates only the driver in the front. There is a large storage compartment in what would normally be the passenger seat area. We bought this limo in March of this year right here on eBay from a local limo company, with the intention of starting up our own limo service. After we bought the car, we started the process of obtaining all of the licenses, etc. We were about halfway through the entire process when some things happened (I won't bore you with the details), and we were no longer in a position to start the business. So, we have decided to sell the car. We used it a few times to take friends out, so we could get some driving experience, and it was great! Our friends loved it and had a blast in it. We even considered keeping it for personal use, but we are having to store it somewhere else (as it can't stay in the driveway), and we can't justify paying storage charges and insurance for a "toy" that we won't use that often. Mechanically, it appears to be very sound. It would sit in storage for 2-4 weeks at a time before we'd get it out, and it started right up every time, without fail. I picked up some friends at a concert, and sat in the car about 20 minutes (with A/C on) at idle waiting. It didn't get hot or seem to mind sitting at idle so long. The car runs very smoothly with no misses, and we've had no issues driving it. The limo company we bought this from spoke very highly of the mechanical reliability of the car. They even asked about calling us as a back-up when they were booked or needed help. That told me they had confidence in the car, which made me feel better about buying it. Now that I've driven it several times, I also have the utmost confidence in the car. Here are some of its features: 120" stretch with Krystal Limo package Fiber optic lighting in the ceiling. You can set it to stay one color, or you can set it to change colors with the touch of a button. We have it set to change colors, and everybody always "oohs and aahs" over it! The fiber optic lights in the bar do the same things you set the ceiling lights to do (change or stay the same color). Power moonroof which can only be operated by the driver. TV with VCR and remote. I don't know if the TV works because the power button has come off of it. We planned to replace it eventually with a flat-screen and DVD player, so we never cared to mess with the TV that's in it now. None of my passengers ever asked to turn the TV on, anyway. Kenwood detachable face radio with CD in the back (there is an amp in the trunk, which I assumed is hooked up) Solid power partition between driver and passengers Rear passenger controls for lighting, sunroof, partition, etc. can be completely or partially disabled by the driver with the flick of a switch. For example, when I took my friend's teenagers out, I disabled the partition so I could keep an eye on them! Dual alternators--very, very nice! This is a feature you definitely need in a limo. One supports the front cab area, and the other runs everything in the back. Cold A/C Beautiful black leather J-seating and one front-facing bench seat, enough for 8 people. The leather is in excellent condition with no tears. In fact, it hardly looks like it has any wear at all. The carpeting is also in excellent condition. Mirrored bar with built-in fiber optic lighting AND regular lighting. You can run these together or separately. Bar has a place for 8 wine or champagne glasses (I will include these with the car), two large compartments with lids (you can use these as ice chests, as they have drains that allow water to drain under the vehicle), and two round champagne bottle compartments with drains (one in the bar, one behind the curve in the J-seat). There are also a couple of places where you can put your drink down: at the end of the bar near the rear bench seat, and on the opposite side of the bar between the J-seat and rear bench seat. Dual lighted vanity mirrors for passengers in rear bench seat Tinted rear windows (of course!) Updated outside opera lighting Chrome exhaust tips Shiny chrome wheels. Tires are in very good condition. Not sure what the top is called, but it is like a fabric material. It is in excellent condition--haven't noticed a thing wrong with it. There is nothing inside that would give any indication that the top has ever leaked. Small, discreet lighted "no smoking" sign inside rear passenger compartment, just above driver partition. Apparently, nobody has ever smoked in it--it has a pleasant leather smell inside the car. Full-size spare I bought some things to put in the trunk that I will include with the car: large umbrella, first-aid kit, and duster (to wipe surface dust off of exterior. Most of the time, I'm able to run the duster over it without having to wash it before going out.) Amenities for driver: factory stereo with cassette, cold A/C separate from rear A/C, large storage area, power leather seat, tilt, cruise, and control panel for rear power and components. This car presents BEAUTIFULLY, and people get really excited over this car; however, it is not new. Here are some of the negatives: The door panel on the driver's door is loose. Driver's threshold moulding has come off (I think there might be some broken tabs on the moulding, so probably a new piece would easily fix this) Driver's power window won't roll down. (From what I understand, it is common for the window motors to go out on these cars.) Wear on driver's compartment carpet. Small areas of "bubbling" in areas where the body and the cloth top meet (the company we bought this car from showed us that this is on their newer cars, too). This in NO WAY takes away from the beauty of the car. It is only really noticeable if you are looking for it. The bumpers have small "imperfections". The remote for the door locks doesn't work. I put a new battery in it, which wasn't the problem. It may just need to be reprogrammed. The power locks work from the driver's control and the rear control. This is a beautiful car, and I hope these negatives don't sound too--well--NEGATIVE! I have no complaints with this car personally, and everyone who rides in it thinks it is a gorgeous car. The main problems are really in the driver's compartment. As a driver, they were of no concern to me. I learned quickly how to work around the window and the keyless entry remote issues. We looked at some limos for sale locally (not on eBay), and found some pretty ragged out cars that we had NO interest in presenting to a client as a new limo company. This car, however, we felt really good about driving around town and having as a starter car for our new limo company.
