I have watched for over a year on eBay and hemming and other sites looking for a comparable car to set a value for this car and have seen more than I thought I would but have NEVER spotted a 1991 Pontiac Trans Am GTA convertible. From all the info on the net the production was 20 GTA convertibles and, 655 Trans Am convertibles built in 1991. I have also spotted more than a couple Trans Am convertibles with GTA badges, This is the exact opposite. This I a real GTA convertible built by ASC and has no Trans am or GTA badges. I could and should have bought a set and placed them on the car but I was considering a very high end paint and body refinish and then applying the correct badges. I would love to describe every detail but I get lost and ramble on. What I’m going to do is list the vin and all the extensive list of things I did to this car and attempted to keep the car as original as possible. I found it very difficult to build a car I have looked for since these were new and I couldn’t afford back then but now things are different. I would have loved to strip many things off and add to this car to make it a fast unique ride. I have now given up and bought a run of the mill 1992 z28 convertible to convert into a Ls2 twin turbo fun wagon without the threat of ruining a rare car someone is looking high and low to find. Hopefully I have explained this issue on why I’m selling the car and you’re more than welcome to email and ask me anything. I’m sure I forgot a pile of info. This car is a factory 305 tune port F motor car with a 700r auto transmission, it now has the rare and sought after disc brake rearend it’s the 9 bolt Borg Warner unit and will be replacing the rear discs and pads this weekend. the car is original black exterior , black top, the top is a 6 month old canvas top professionally installed by Miami seat cover , and tan interior that was replaced with a 1988 GTA interior that was removed from a car with 42ooo miles and it has not been reupholstered or any other work done and it looks very new. I installed a homelink garage door and gate opener rear view view mirror with high beam dimmer , looks factory , it comes from a g35 coupe and they sell for 275 dollars before install can be programed to operate a gate , fence or garage opener The driver’s side seat is NOT worn or damaged, it’s amazing how clean this interior is but it’s not perfect. The car has every option from back then; it’s a power window, power lock, power mirror, power antenna car. This car also has a split rear seat where it was built with a one piece seat. This also has the real very expensive GTA made by Recaro seats and all functions work as they should. I took the interior out of a car I bought after seeing a neighbor breaking into a house on my block and called the police. Within a week I came out for church on Sunday and found my car vandalized, they cut my top, seats, and a few other chicken moves. It will be on a car fax if you’re interested in looking and verifying. I have full coverage insurance with Florida Farm Bureau and they paid me to repair my car and that’s what I did. I removed the complete interior and dynamatted the complete interior and doors with just under 1000 dollars sound deadener everywhere. Installed the carpet from the 42ooo mile car and the rest of the interior after the top was replaced and even used the older style GTA only door panels and replaced the passenger’s side window motor. While I was in the interior I installed a full matching set of Boston Acoustics correct size speakers in factory location. I did install a cd radio from a 2001 s 10 truck without cutting any wires so if you hate it you can install a old style cassette that is period correct . The dash pad is just about perfect it has a half inch crack where you can’t see unless you’re really looking I have replaced the front brakes and tires complete and the car runs and drives like a sports car should. It has the factory wheels in gold and has ALL the under hood emission controls as it did in 1991 and has a 3 inch exhaust with a magnaflow muffler and dual exhaust tips. I also installed a set of injectors when I bought the car with Python injectors, can be found on jegs , I actually forget the info on the injectors, I also replced most of the under hood sensors , like the tps, water temp , and a pile of other stuff I had gm replace , I have a pile of paperwork to choke a horse on the minor replaced parts and service done at the dealer . You would think they would enjoy working on such nice rare car and make the prices reflect that but they try to break it off in you every time. Nevertheless most of the work has been done at Blake Chevy in Homestead. . This has always been a Florida car from the info have gotten and it shows, the body is straight and has not been in accidents, title is clear and in hand. I did ironically enough backed into a No parking sign at my daughter’s school while I was parking and it ripped the bumper cover right above the tag, It was able to fit into place and needs to be fixed and repainted. No big deal, I would have taken care of this but I actually started to use the car as a daily driver after I sold my truck and I didn’t rush to buy another car and worked out many of the bugs and really enjoy driving the car. I take this to south beach with the kids and the top down and never have any problem finding parking , I pull up stop for valet and they leave it right up front . Last time I came back to see a couple getting their pictures taken next to my car. It’s a attention getter were ever you go or happen to be going, get used to the thumbs up while driving this car. I also played with this car and have it tuned to run on gas any flavor or even the E85. it runs great either way but wouldn’t recommend E85 on a cold weather , it is good for warm climate but in the Florida winter it takes a few trys to start but once it’s on its on . A/c is cold, heater is hot. Wipers work as they should top is easy to operate trunk spoiler is not loose. I had the driver’s door hinge kit replace and the pin rode up just a bit and needs to be driven down and fastened if not the door catches a bit . I have not seen any rust on this car and I have been all over the car except in the middle of the hood? A quarter size spot not even noticeable and a small spot on the top of the post on the left side, two weird places. A collector will have this car refinished and it may add a half hour to the prep time nothing more . Like I said no accidents except the sign incident. This car like all the older Trans am and Camaros are skyrocketing in value and I found only 1 value document on the internet and it was 20000 for fair condition and 25000 for good I would consider this good. I also have this insured for 35000 with collector car coverage. For the interior alone they paid me 5000. I have send some of the junk on eBay and this is way cleaner , but you will see in the ebay car fax the insurance claim I had and maybe Speedo replacement , and if it was ever paid for by a insurance claim in the last 20 years , I would be very interested to see a car fax , if you car fax it please send me a copy .
