Go ahead…scroll down and see for yourself… With continued care, owning this fine automobile will make you feel that way every time you see and drive it. With the average car's lifespan being about a dozen years and the attrition rate often accelerated by careless second-hand owners, it'd be a nice surprise to find an example of the species that, despite being 11 years old, still shines and sparkles like a late-model. The most likely place to unearth such a rare gem would be Southern California, with its mild climate and large number of sports car enthusiasts. Such an amazing find is the miraculously well-preserved car presented for auction here! This extremely rare, drop dead gorgeous, factory ROADSTER with only 58,350 original miles is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic Paint with Nephrite Green "Full" Leather Interior and Black Canvas Top. Porsche built only a small handful of these limited convertibles with this spectacular color combination and TIPTRONIC AUTOMATIC Transmission. Purchased new at Negherbon Porsche in Oakland, CA for over $51,000 the car has had only 2 owners who both treated it like their one and only child. The result is a vintage Cabriolet that was always garaged; meticulously maintained and has never left the Golden State. Exterior: No, this is not a repaint but the factory original finish. After nearly a decade on the road, most cars have become rusty and damaged, or have been "restored" by well-meaning folks who usually remove what they perceive to be "flaws" on the car's finish. In reality, a clean, 100% rust and collision free, original finish with a few VERY minor chips, scuffs and scratches, is a very rare and highly desirable trait of any collectible automobile! In this case, what lies beyond the shiny exterior speaks volumes about the loving care this Boxter has always received and underscores the car's Southern California provenance. Surveying the car's straight and smooth coachwork today, we marvel at how well the finish was preserved over the years. In fact, with little preparation, this fine example of the marque could be proudly displayed a local car show or Concours d'Elegance. Four, nearly new Michelin Radials ride on factory, 17" alloys which still display amazing detail. Speaking of detail, let us stress how straight the body is, how glossy the paint: if you wouldn't know differently, you'd think to be looking at a 11-month old, not an 11-year old car. This one is that clean! Engine & Mechanical: Beyond routine tune-ups & oil changes, thousands of dollars were invested into preventative maintenance, mainly to the engine and its ancillaries including new serpentine belt, plugs, hoses and braking systems. Included in the maintenance records are the 30,000 and 60,000 major services. No wear item has been left unattended; As a result, this Boxter is mechanically as strong as it is cosmetically. Yes, any Porsche can be a very tough and reliable automobile with a bit of preventative maintenance! We'll inspect the interior next, shall we? Like a bottle of fine wine, a leather interior does not age gracefully if the car is not stored properly. Typically, as these expensive Porsches grow older and get resold or replaced by a newer car, they lose their spot in the garage and are left exposed to outside elements. Unfortunately, the great outdoors is the Achilles’ heel to aging cabriolets as bad things begin to happen. All the expensive leather and top canvas becomes dried, faded and cracked costing thousands of dollars to repair or replace. Not in this case! Always garaged and never smoked in, the original leather seats and door panels are still soft and supple. There are two small areas on passenger floor carpet that have worn or faded (see photos). The included, factory floor mats hide these areas and were removed for the photos. Otherwise, everything looks, smells, feels and operates as if the car was delivered yesterday, not 11 years ago. The full array of factory gauges all work flawlessly and the A/C blows ICE COLD. The on-board computer displays valuable vehicle data while driving. The Tiptronic shifters are conveniently located on both sides of the steering wheel. The 4-speaker, AM/FM audio system with CD player guarantees pleasurable audio even when traveling topless at speeds well above the double nickel. Center console has window controls and gear selector for Automatic or Manual shift mode. The complete books, window sticker and Owner’s Manual all tuck neatly into their original leather pouch and are stored below the steering column. Finally, a brand-new, rear window was fitted into the convertible top for crystal clear, rear vision. The power feature works perfectly and the top folds up or down in seconds at the flip of a switch. Spacious cargo areas are located fore and aft. Front cargo area contains all the important bits: Spare wheel/tire, jack & lug wrench. A picture says more than a thousand words: This all original trunk is clean! Drivability: This Roadster can cruise at speeds that many cars would struggle to reach and handles like it is on tracks. Its lighter, 201 HP, mid-engine layout is intelligently engineered and the power-to-weight ratio is very favorable, indeed. In any climate, the powerful 2.5liter 6-cylinder engine starts every time, idles, revs and pulls effortlessly without unusual noises or hesitation and accelerates strong and smooth with an exhaust note that sounds like a pipe organ; leaving no smoke in your rear-view mirror. Warmed up, the oil pressure and temperature remains absolutely stable, with no hint of overheating even after extended runs at high speeds. Steering is precise and the 5-speed, automatic transmission with Tipronic option shifts seamlessly. The disc brakes anchor the car securely, in a straight line, and without any hint of fading. Throwing this Roadster through the curves aided by newer Michelin Radial tires; handling and braking are superb with no rattles, shakes, shimmies or pulls. All in all, this Porsche is a thoroughly convincing performer and a joy to drive! Despite its age, the car is perfectly reliable and ready to be driven anywhere, even across the Country, if that's where you live. Pound for pound, the Porsche Boxter is among the finest, most reliable sports cars ever made. In the end, what makes these cars so desirable is the strong character. No other cars at affordable prices generate the same passion as the Porsche Boxter and few PRACTICAL cars top it at ANY price. Finally, the Boxter has reached the bottom-end of the depreciation curve. A perfect time to buy. Being such a rare, low mile example, this Roadster has fantastic appreciation potential and can easily serve as a reliable daily driver. To make things even better, reasonably priced spare parts and service are readily available. To state it succinctly: This Boxter will deliver on its promise! There's but one stumbling block on the way to Boxter Heaven: Garaged, unmolested, low mile, meticulously serviced examples are getting very hard to find.
